    Haven't been here in ages, but saw this and thought I'd add. I took Douglas Labs AHCC on the advice of my naturopath during chemo and I did really great. Can't say for sure if it was just that as I was on fish oil, vit D and low dose pro-biotics (among other things), but while I lost my hair, I didn't suffer any of the other SE's (nothing wrong with nails, mouth, appetite, weight lose, nausea etc.)

    Thanks so much for the post!

    I too have been on fish oil (switched to flaxseed oil), high dose vit D and pro-biotics (plus many others). Have had partial hair loss, nail beds grew moons (I've never had nail moons) and soft nails (made sure I wore rubber gloves when around water), lost all interest in food, lost 15 pounds I should not have lost, nausea, etc.  Supplements helped to keep something in me when I couldn't eat to keep some energy going to heal. 

    AHCC was suggested at the health food store I initially went to while traveling when first learned I had BC.  The sales clerk shared with me all the cancer patients who shopped there took AHCC and treasured its benefit.

    Glad to hear you did really well with SE keeping a distance.  I am doing much better, seven months post rads.

    just a heads up really. when my wife was about to start her chemo i had a chat with an nhs chemist. he told me that ahcc interacted with tamoxifen.

    Did the NHS chemist provide the research reference published papers on the study to share with you on how the AHCC interacted with Tamoxifen?

    Interested in reviewing the research.  Hyperlink to the direct web location would be great.
