Hello,

I have been having issues with my right breast for a while, had mammo and sono and everything turned out ok, in the process I learned about IBC. Now I noticed the red spot on my left breast that has me concerned. Does it look like IBC?

This is very difficult for anyone here to diagnose. Reading about the symptoms may be helpful:  IBC Symptoms. We suggest that you make an appointment with your physician to check it out.

Like the Mods related, no one here can diagnose you; everyone's story is different, so you should see your doctor and not mince words about what's on your mind.

That being said, this looks to me like a photo of an infected hair follicle.  But...see your doctor.

I echo the mods and sbelizabeth. And in answering your question "does this look like IBC?" it looks nothing at all like mine did....but that was me. I can only answer for me.

Thank you everyone, I do have an appt with my dr tomorrow, The spot seems redder and it seems bigger and now one of my Momtgomery gland turned pink. Hoping it's just infected hair follicles.

As  sbelizabeth and Meadow said - there is NO ONE here who can diagnose anything.  We are not medical personnell who actuaclly see you.

Theremare MANY possibilities for skin issues/redness.  The VAST majority have nothing to do with anything BC related.   IBC is rare - only between 1% - 5% of ALL DXd BCs.  IF all who decide they are IBC because of a redness - it would be the ,ost common type of BC which it clearly isn't.  Even with DXd IBC - it does not always present with redness - I never developed amy redness.

    See your Dr!

    Hi

Went to the dr, he said looks like an infected hair follicle, clogged pore, and that the reddened Montgomery glad is from that. Prescribed antibiotic for 10 days and said it should clear up. Seems unconcerned at all when I mentioned the C word. I told him I will be back if it doesn't clear after the round of antibiotics. I do suffer from bad health anxiety so I hope it's all in my head but I just can't stop worrying

Does IBC start out as pea sized?  Can it spead within days to the head, lungs, lymph nodes?  My mind is racing aand I haven't been diagnosed with cancer.  But I had no pain in my breast.  I have now after the maqmmograph (two weeks ago).  Shouldn't that pain have passed.  I will have my biopsy on Thursday.

Sounds like good news pmitchell. Stop worrying about your health or you WILL have lots to worry about. Our health and our minds are so closely connected. It is silly to worry over things that might be or could be. Save your energy for the real stuff.

Johnboy, again, the same advice to pmitchell seems to apply here. IBC does not usually present with a lump, it forms in sheets like cotton candy, thin "nests" of cancer cells if you can imagine, and yes, it does spread rapidly. But I dont know about metastisizing to other organs within days....perhaps someone else can answer that. If you have breast changes you should always see doctor for answers, sounds like you are on that path. Think positively always!

I was dx with IBC just over a year ago. It has not metastasized,  but I have already had a local recurrence.  It does not usually begin with as a lump as Meadow has stated.
