Hello!

I was kinda thrilled, excited to get a message from another member who had my same exact BRCA2 mutation after I posted it on the forum here within breastcancer.org. So, what does this "mean?" Does it mean we share a blood relative "somewhere" down the ancestral line? I know as humans we are all "connected" but discovering this actual person, who I have never met, piqued my curiousity and I quickly googled it but didn't find anything...thanks in advance!

Have you tried posting this on the forums on www.facingourrisk.org?  You may be more likely to get a response.  Good luck!

I don't know the answer to your question-sorry.  But I thought I'd throw in that I've done DNA testing through one of the companies that offer it (I won't mention the name because I don't want anyone to think I'd hawking their services). I'm sure it's FAR from the type of testing that goes on with BRCA testing.  I did I just for genealogy research, and consider the "medical" information I received as not much more accurate than one's horoscope.  BUT...I do know that the genealogy matching is at least somewhat legit, as I've discovered relatives I never knew I had, and with whom I've proven the familial link.  So, if you ever have a question about whether you're related to a given individual, it's a fun place to test those theories. Again, I know that's not your focus nor your question, but it's a fun way to check out relationships.
