After posting earlier, I think I discovered the reason for my fairly recent digestive problems. When I had my reflux med re-filled here in MN, I noticed that the capsules were smaller with a different coloration. I called the pharmacy in Louisiana today and verified that I had been taking 40 mg and this refill was 20 mg. So I'll start taking two of the 20 mg. I have plenty enough since I always get 90 days.
I feel relieved to discover a reason for my icky stomach.

Well I have worn the prosthetics for a couple of days now and I think they will definitely make a difference but I think I actually need to change my shoes as well. I did a fare bit of walking yesterday which surprised me greatly but it wasn't my knees that hurt at the end of it it was my toes! .....lol. I think I need a wider fitting shoe to keep those little blighter a comfy as well. I'm in the city at the moment and have some time to kill this morning so I think I may just have to do some shoe shopping, it's a hard thing to have to do but someone's got to do it and it might as well be me.........lol.
Yes I did get some nice shots yesterday on the way down and will post them on the weekend as I only bring my iPad with me and not my laptop.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy

I HATE shoe shopping!!! Inserts take up too much room. I do have Sketchers I like to walk in because they "tip" me forward.
-
Barbe, I had a pair of shoes that I wore all the time as they were soooo comfy but alas, like all things good they wore out. The brand name was 'step on air' so this morning I am going back to the same shop in the hope that they still stock that brand and have a pair that I like.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
-
We have "Walk on Air" up here and I used to get them for work when I could afford them. They mostly come from Isreal and weigh next to nothing.
-
I just liked the fact that my toes had room to move, they were supportive in the right places and front the minute I put them on my feet they were comfy and never gave me blisters! The pair I had were still great to look at but I wore the sole out and it couldn't be replaced........:(
-
I bought a pair of Mephisto. lace up shoes in 1998. My inserts fit beautifully and 16 years later they still look brand new. Best pair of shoes I ever bought. Lots of toe room too.
-
Chrissy & Barbe, I loathe shoe shopping! Never understood women who love buying shoes. I either wear Birkenstock sandals or Crocs. They are not attractive, but fit my Fred Flintstone feet well. Lol
Lisa, My DH has a pair of Mephistos that he has had about ten years. They were ridiculously expensive, but still look great and he says they are the most comfortable shoes he's ever worn.
Feeling pretty good today. Only issue that stays with me constantly now is the neuropathy. I'm hopeful that it will eventually leave me. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my DD. Her plane lands in about an hour. I can hardly sit still. Lol. I may not be on the boards much while she's here. But I'm sure I will check in after I see my RO next week.
Wishing you all a peaceful week! Hugs, lilyrose
-
Lilyrose I know you are going to love spending time with your DD........we will miss you but understand completely!!! Have fun!!!!!
I shall let you all know of my success ................or not of my shoe shopping adventure. I am about to head out the door......lol.

LOVELY.

A REAL dusty rose colour!!

Thank you all for the congratulations about our coming new grandchild. April 8 seems like a long time from now but we all know how fast time flies after we age a bit! We'll find out the sex in about 3 more months, hopefully. This makes 4!
DD (the one who's newly pregnant) is singing at the service for the stillborn twin I posted about earlier. The baby's mother and DD have been close friends since elementary school and when she asked DD of course couldn't say no. It will be a difficult day for everyone.
Chrissy, I hate shoe shopping too, especially since I sometimes/usually find something that feels fine in the store but turns out to be totally uncomfortable in real life. I plan to investigate about some prosthetics soon and see if they'll help any. Hope you had good luck with the shopping trip.
Lisa, love the Balboa Park picture and also that unusual rose! I've never seen a rose like that and it's both unusual and captivating! BTW, I looked at the Mephisto shoes website and at those prices they certainly should last for 16 years! In that case, they'd definitely be worth it!!
Lilyrose, another one down! I'm so happy for you about your visit from your DD--hope you have a fantastic time together!!
Hope all have a great weekend!
Kathy

Kathy, I paid half price for the Mephistos in France..
-
A little gem in my garden, a kowhai flower. Must take a picture of the one round at DD's.
-
Alyson, those look very scented...are they? Loving the lilies still!
-
Okay girls, a couple from the road trip to Adelaide.

Enjoying everyone's pictures. Chrissy, that new camera really takes good pictures! Or maybe it's the photographer?
We're off to a blue-grass music festival today. We went last year and enjoyed the music. It was a bright sunny day last year but today is overcast and gloomy so far.
I'll have to look up Mephisto shoes. Never heard of them or the ones Chrissy mentioned. My foot dr. recommends SAS shoes. I bought some SAS sandals that cost $125, which is very pricey but they are so comfortable I can wear them all day without foot pain and they last a long time. They're also made here in USA, which is rare for almost any product today. My New Balance exercise shoes are also made in this country. I like supporting manufacturing in my own country since so much of what is sold now is made in poor countries with underpaid workers. On the other hand, I suppose those underpaid workers are glad to have an income.
-
love all the pictures. the colors are so vibrant!
carole, we have an overcast day here, too. and very cool for August.
It was the last hurrah for the tourist season here this last week. The Agricultural Fair, Illumination Night (they string lanterns along the Victorian campground cottages), and last night the Oak Bluffs fireworks. The dog is still stuck to my side. lol.
I have been feeling crummy. Maybe just a summer cold. But of course it settled in my chest. I guess I'll try to see the doc on Monday, since I take off for Austria on Tuesday. It will be an adventure! My friend Debbie left on Thursday, they were late leaving Boston so missed their connection in DC so didn't leave the states until last night. The civil ceremony is this morning at 9am, they are suppose to get in to Vienna about 8:30am. Always some drama!!!The church wedding isn't until next Friday.
So did I tell y'all that the chalk paint did not work out? It was not able to be applied consistently enough. Now we are using another painter, who of course had to sand the beams back down. As soon as he gets them painted I will post pics. They are now saying that it "should" be done by the time we get back, which is Sept 8th. Then we start on the landscaping and patio.
Has anyone here tried Magnesium Calm? It is a natural supplement to help with muscle pain and brain health. They say it is a relaxing drink for daily stress. My new physisatrist recommended it. I'm giving it a try today. She also recommended Wobenzym for inflammation. But since that is to be taken on an empty stomach and 45 minutes before you eat, I have to take it when I wake up in the middle of the night. Oh no, now I am in the middle of goggle land reading all about this stuff.
-
oh, Chrissy, I think you are going to love your new camera..I know I do...of course, you had something to do with that...
I don't mind spending money on a good pair of sturdy shoes, l have two pairs, one black and one brown.I mostly wear them in
the cooler temps with long pants or jeans..
mac, I sure hope you feel better quickly.
Aly, I love that flower..I have never seen one before..wow
-
I mostly wear New Balance. I have them in white, black, tan, and gray. They look less athletic in the plain colors. I also have Dansko clogs.
Chrissy, the photos are beautiful. I tend to think of Australia as all outback with red dirt and no trees. Obviously there are other areas that are quite pretty. Do they irrigate the fields?
-
wren, I think they are in their spring with all the new growth. we are at our end of summer with the dusty fields and brown grass.
I love all this talk about shoes. (being in the business of shoes) I don't really care what "brand" they are as long as they are well made. They have to feel good the moment I put them on, because I do not want my feet to have to "break them in". But I have a shoe for every occasion. A pair for wearing when I walk, a pair for when I want to look good, a pair for walking the dog, a pair for when it is wet out............
-
Carole I'm really pleased with the quality of photo from the camera.......what I'm posting comes straight from the camera no straightening or editing in any way.....they are as I shot so it bodes well for me....lol. Hope you enjoyed that Blue-grass Festival and the weather fined up a bit.
Ooo Nancy hope that cold eases off a bit for your flight! How exciting, heading off to Vienna for a wedding... hope it all goes well for the bride and groom. Oh what a bummer that the chalk paint didn't work out! Can't wait to see the finished product when you return.
I've never heard of Magnesium calm but I do use magnesium for muscle relaxation and to help with constipation as taking more than your body needs will give you the runs. Wobenzym is new also, I use Boswellia Serata for inflammation.
Aly that flower is really different to anything that I've seen as well, very unusual.
Lisa glad you like my camera.....lol Love the orchid!
Wren later in the summer I will go out and take some pics of the salt bush country which is flat with little stubby bushes, red sandy earth and is very unappealing to live in but it also has a beauty that not everyone appreciates. Right now we are at the end of Winter and heading into Spring, a period at the end of our most rainfall. Crops here are seeded in the Autumn after the first rains and rely on the winter rains for their growth. The Yellow crop in the pics are Conola and are just at the beginning of their flowering and are harvested long before the grain crops are ready. It is of such a bright yellow, reminiscent of the color of our Wattle trees, that the contrast with the green of the growing grain crops is gorgeous. All of the trees you see in the pics are native gums which are not deciduous but the season is yet still early and any of the imported ornamental and stone fruit trees are still bare and it will be another couple of weeks before they begin to sprout.
Australia is a land that is as you think, desert with red dirt but it is surprising that in most parts there are always a few gums which have naturally adapted to the dryness over millennium. Around the coastline (which can mean hundreds of miles inland) the rainfall is much higher and this is where most of the population and food production is. We have a few rivers, most are small but one stretches from New South Wales through the top of Victoria and down into South Australia where it drains into the ocean. It is called the Murray River and has been tapped for irrigation of crops throughout the last century and has done untold damage to the system as the farmers want bigger and bigger areas irrigated. Most of the irrigation is being done in New South Wales, right at the top of the river so the bottom end, where we are is really badly affected.
Oops, sorry Wren for the lecture....lol. There are so many beautiful and diverse areas of Australia and most people not from here find it hard to believe that Aus is so big but contains so few people.......comes down to where it is possible to live and survive and for European man (and woman) a lot of it is uninhabitable.
I did go shoe shopping and found a pair that is quite comfortable.......not the ones I was after but comfy none the less. The best part of them, they were $89 so didn't break the bank and I'm able to put the prosthetic into them as they are deep enough. They are fully leather and German made so of good quality and I think will be even more comfortable once they have walked in a bit.
Take it easy all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, I enjoyed the geography lesson! And congratulations on finding a comfortable pair of shoes.
I looked up Mephisto shoes. The comfort technology sounds good and the quality of construction. We have one store in my area that sells them. The store is Dillard's at a shopping center that's on the New Orleans side of Lake Pontchartrain. I almost never shop at that store since I have Dillard stores closer. I would like to try on a pair of the shoes and see if your feet feel like they're floating in comfort, as advertised.
We're having another gloomy day but it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow.
-
Chrissy, I enjoyed the geography lesson too. We went to France years ago and drove from Nice to Paris. The fields were full of canola and bright bright yellow. Very pretty.
-
is that the canola that they make oil from?
chrissy, thanks, I had an acupuncture appt yesterday and whatever she did I feel better today. I also drank some magnesium calm yesterday and found out about the anti constipation bit. lol Not sure whether I should try it again , maybe a bit less and at night instead of in the morning.
I want to have a good time on this trip. I just have to remember my limits and take it easy. The good part is that we will be with lots of other people so my DD will have others to do things with if I have to rest. I will take lots of pictures. I'm in the getting ready rush of doing laundry and tying up all the loose ends.
-
Yes and the Murray River in Australia is maned after an ancestor of mine - just thought you needed that fact. Will post Aussies pictures when we go over on holiday in three weeks. I am not going down Chrissy's way this time but it is a beautiful country and where Chrissy lives there are stunning areas.
A couple of views north of where Chris lives and some of her roses.
-
Milk of Magnesia is known as "The Bomb" for constipation, so it lends credibility that a Magnesium drink would do the same...hehehehe.
-
Aly and Chrissy, I will look forward to some Australian scenery pictures. And New Zealand pictures, too, Aly. When dh and I made our bucket list trip to AUS and NZ in Jan. of this year, I enjoyed seeing some of both countries. I thought AUS must be one of the most interesting and varied countries in the world. And NZ is certainly one of the most beautiful as well as interesting. The people in both countries were welcoming and friendly.
One fact about NZ that I found fascinating is its immigration policy to admit people based on profession.
If it weren't so doggone expensive to get to either country, I would love to go back.
-
Carole, that is only one of the ways you can get to NZ. There are lots of other criteria which allow people to come here.
Will find some of my NZ photos. Don't think I have any here other than some flowers.
Waiting for someone to come and give me a quote to do the garden- it has got out of hand and I can't do it nor can DH. It just got away.
