Shaped implants vs round?

I didn't think my PS did shaped implants, but I just found out that's what he's recommending for me. Surgery is coming up soon (Sept. 4th), and I'm meeting with him this Thursday.

His reasoning is that I have a scrawny little chest (27" ribcage with the tape pulled really tight), and the round implants look less natural on someone with my build.

I know there are the rotation issues if the pocket isn't done just right, but I believe he's a skilled enough surgeon that he wouldn't offer them if he wasn't sure he could do it well.

I also know the shaped implants are firmer. Does anyone know if they are moveable at all?  Could you push them up?  Or are they immoveable like my TEs?

What else should I be aware of before I talk to the PS??  Help?

Check out the topic BREAST IMPLANT SIZING 101 (in forum Breast Reconstruction). Lots of great information and help on that board.

I have "gummy bear" implants.  They look very natural on me.  They are soft and very moveable.  I can wear a sports bra or a push up bra if I want more cleavage.  I am happy with mine.

Hello elizabeth what did you decide? My PS Dr. Marcus Niessen at Toronto had told me that shaped implants looks good on people with small build, so if you fall into that category then shaped implants is the thing for you. I got round implants as I am of a slightly heavier build.

Hi Cook!  I'm meeting with my PS today for our final consult before surgery (Sept 4th). I definitely have a small upper body, and my PS said (via email) that he thought shaped implants were best for me. I don't know how our conversation will go, but I am armed with whippetmom's suggestions and various pros and cons of different types of implants. I don't think I'll really be deciding anything so much as talking to him about what I'd like in an ideal world (no breast cancer for anyone, ha ha!).
