What does everyone wear after you're home from the surgery? How long do you have to wear baggy clothes?
-
Jackie...When I got in my car after my last rad treatment I started whooping & hollering at the top of my lungs. I hope no one was watching because they would have thought I was a crazy woman. LOL
-
Sweetie, I am thinking of you and hope you are settling in at home and managing your pain. The first few weeks are hard. Wishing you wellness and recovery. Lemon I hope you are doing better and your swelling going down. Andrea, I hope your PS can do both sides for you. If not I am sure you can discuss other options. Hoping for good news for you.
I hit the five week mark tomorrow. I am feeling pretty good. Hope I'm done spitting out stitches! I see the PS for the first time since the surgery on Sept 10. I hope she says we can do stage 2 earlier than six months.
-
LAstar: thank you for your input, it was so interesting to read your story. I totally agree that big breasts are a hassle!! Just love the idea of some freedom from bras and saggy breasts that cause sweating if a bra isn't worn. No thank you! ( BTW, I noticed you're in Oregon, who did you use for your surgeons, if you don't mind my asking?)
Jackie: you're in my thoughts and prayers!!
HeidiAtoo: sounds like you were having fun in the mountains, I would love to have horses! Nice to hear that your healthy tissue is showing! I hear you on the patience! I have none!!
Crs629: so happy your scans were clear! Good luck on Thursday! I will say a little prayer for you!
Aff: Woooohoooo! No more rads!! Congratulations! Go celebrate!
Teacher: Good luck with the ultrasound, hope they can help with the pain! I know living with pain everyday makes you go crazy! (From experience)
-
missnaomi- Looks like you're getting your DIEP today, hope all is well, putting some good thoughts out to you today!!
-
thanks MsW. It's a little better everyday. I go tomorrow to Dr 1st post op appointment. I really hope there going to remove some drains. They are a real pain
-
Sweetie: I hope you get to remove your drains!! Let us know how your first post op goes!
-
Andrea - while at home I wore my favorite pretty pj's for the first week. When I went to see the PS, I wore loose pants and front button blouse. I still had the binder and drains so I wanted to cover them. After drains were gone, I wore soft yoga pants and was out of really baggie clothes because the breast swelling was also going down somewhat by then.
-
Julie, hope we hear from you soon.
Andrea, believe it or not, I brought a go home outfit with me, but I also had really pretty soft pajama's I never wore while I was in the hospital, and the day I went home they seemed much more appealing to put on then the other stuff. I went home in pretty pajamas...lol
Teacher, do they have any idea what caused this lump and why it is painful? I am so sorry. Remind me what you had done on stage 2 again? My stage 2 hasn't been easy either.
-
I guess I need to buy some new pajamas and button down shirts. Wonder if Kohl's has some cute ones?
-
I found all of my cute pj's at Penney's.
-
Andrea - I got pj's at Target just because it's closer and there's too much road construction for me to get to Kohl's.
-
hey ladies
Just trying to catch up..I had my dog ear revision surgery Thursday. Wilbur was good to me but the Norco pain pills they gave me after weren't working for me. I've finally traded in the hospital girdle thing for spanks but its such a headache going to the bathroom. I've got 3 weeks in this compression. Luckily it's cooled down to 93 degrees this week :-) Although I'm swollen and a little bruised I can def tell a difference. It's been almost 10 mos since my initial surgery that I waited for stage 2. I still have to get a nipple and I believe a lift on the reg boob for matching. Hopefully ill get that before the end of the year.
I wore panties when I came home from initial surgery but I didn't have compression then. I just had like 2 size larger size boy shorts. During that time I wore a lot of sweats and zip up hoodie or button down shirts. I had a couple pair of yoga pants with the wide band loose tops. reg yoga pants were too tight in the waist for me. PJ's were a Godsend
-
Butterfly: congrats on being done with a Stage 2! Hopefully the time in compression will fly by!
-
I'm finding that spanx are much more com profitable than the binder, which had a seam that hit the bulge wrong.
Today I had to see my PC doc for routine blood work and I cried when she told me I was her inspiration through her bc journey and DIEP. She said she kept thinking that if I could do it with a positive attitude and smile, so could she. I told her I wasn't going to spend my retirement in gloom because I have things to do! She liked my nipples and said she's looking forward to getting hers.
-
Teacher64, what a blessing to have a PC doc who knows first hand what you are going through. Wonderful that you can be an encouragement to each other. Sweetie, thinking of you. I hope you get those drains out, but in the long run it's best to keep them doing their thing until your body is ready. I know you'll let us know, I'll be watching for your post!
-
one out of 4 drains removed today. Dr said everything is healing good. Back in one week
-
Aww Sweetie, one out of four? Better than none! Hang in there sweetheart.
-
yeah to everyone. Great day all around.
Hi all, surgery over and am in my room happily tucked I with Dilated. Nausea successfully managed so far. Even had a light lunch of square meat chunks over rice. Will bust loose tomorrow. Only 1 drain. DH made it to the funeral (Tempe neg friend) and had lunch with the cell mates.. Life is good. Hugs! Love me some dilauded. DH napping with huge rainstorm on the way. Hello Wilbur! He really is not helpful when I type so am cross posting. Cut and paste he helps with.
-
MartyJ lol yes isn't it fun to type with Wilbur! Glad you are in good spirits.
-
it was the one irritating me the most so I was happy with that. Can't wait to get home and nap. It was a long walk from parking garage to his office
-
Sweetie, The post-ops were long walks for me too, from car to office, so the 2nd one my DH dropped me at the door. By four weeks post-surgery I was walking much easier. I'm at 5 weeks today and am almost standing upright. I think the abs will be weak for a long time but I'm walking probably 1/2 mile plus at a time. It gets better!
-
I hope! ! I'm exhausted and hungry. Waiting for my mom to get back to get me something to eat.I forgot to ask Dr when I could have caffeine again. Anyone have an idea
-
Sweetie - 1 is progress.
MartyJ - let Wilbur assist. He's not much of a typist, but he's good for sleeping.
-
Marty, glad to hear it went well. Can you refresh my memory as to what you had done?
Sweetie, yay for losing that bothersome drain! I'll bet that feels a lot better. Maybe you can call the office and ask about the caffeine?
-
My PS did not put restrictions on caffeine.....
-
Sweetie...I think I had to wait for 6 wks after surgery before I could have caffeine again
-
yes it was the microsurgeon who said aspirin a day, limited activity and no caffeine for six weeks. That artery graft is delicate. Don't want to burden it with higher heart rate or bp.
-
Andrea, this was my final Stage 2. She created nipples. Then she raised my left incision line slightly. Because the original BMX was done almost 30 years ago, the scars were up high intgemchest wall. She also took some excess skin out what gave an extra poof and revised scars. Ended up with one lonelydrain. Gotta say, the new nips are funky big. Bigger than big. When my DH looked at the guards covering them, he suggested tassels to help shields the somehow. Not shirts for me for a whil👍.
-
Marty, glad to hear you and Wilbur are doing so well. Glad you have an appetite, and are resting. As somebody else requested, what did you have done this stage?
Sweetie, I just didn't have caffeine because I heard other's weren't allowed to have it, and I really didn't crave it since I had no appetite for a week, or so after surgery anyway. The caffeine habit it back with a vengeance though...ugh
Teacher, I would love to have a doctor that actually knows what I am going through. What a difference that could make. I hope you are feeling a little better today.
I had my hair color appt today. Haven't had it done in a couple of months. Usually just get blonde highlights. Well, my hairdresser was sweet, but had to tell me that I had too much grey now to get away with that....ugh!!!!! So, I sat there and had a base color put on first. I can see grey hair in my near future. I can't sit that long.
