My first series of appointments include meeting with a genetic counselor at the cancer center this morning.  Not really sure what to expect but we will see.  Most devastating news thus far is that I need to have my IUD removed.  After years of horrible periods and migraines, the last 7 years have given me back my quality of life.  That sucks.

Let me know how the premenopausal folks deal with that.

Good luck!   Most likely they will go over your family medical history and decide what if any tests are warranted.

About the IUD, for what it's worth, I was having horrible, frequent periods (peri-menopausal) with tons of breast pain and bloating prior to my diagnosis, but Tamoxifen has actually made all of that MUCH better, with very few annoying side effects (minor hair loss, occasional hot flushes, and occasional leg cramps, but none frequent or severe enough to be a real problem).     The reduction in PMS, lighter, less frequent periods more than make up for the negative aspects, at least for me.

You will of course, need to decide on another form of birth control.
