Lump or something else?

Options

For maybe a month my left breast (the lumpectomy one) has been on-and-off tender around the upper edge.  A week or two ago I was feeling the breast where it hurt and distinctly felt a BB-sized "something".  It was hard and there was no question it was there.  Except when I've tried to feel it since, I can't find it!  Instead of calling the doctor I keep searching and rationalizing that maybe it's scar tissue (although there was no surgery in that precise region) or maybe even some kind of marker or a left-over radiation seed or maybe I only imagined it (I didn't).  I'm going to call my surgeon tomorrow morning but is it possible it really IS nothing?

It is possible, but its good to follow through and check. Let us know what the doctor thinks and good luck

I see the doctor's assistant Friday.  Now, though, I'm wondering if it really could be a tiny tumor.

It's definitely a lump but the assistant said it could possibly be scar tissue from the lymph node removal.  I'll have a mammogram and ultrasound Monday morning.  It feels good to realistically accept that it could be just scar tissue.

I just had another Biopsy a couple of weeks ago for a moveable lump I discovered just under my Mx scar.

It was a very scary couple of weeks while I waited for the pathology, and the call from my Surgeon. I was pretty sure it was going to be ok when the stereotactic gun actually made the lump disappear off the screen when it took the first core.

Apparently, it isn't unusual to have cysts and undissolved stitches or scar tissue appear as lumps.

I wish you all the very best, let us know how you get on.

No cancer on the mammogram or ultrasound.  The ultrasound saw nothing whatsoever.  Apparently the mammogram also saw nothing or if they did, it wasn't anything worrisome.  I'll see my surgeon again in a few weeks and ask more about what the lump is since it didn't show up on either test.  Right now, I'm satisfied.
