Calcification in the breast
I was DX in 2014 with TN cancer in my left breast. I had a surgery (lumpectomy) and underwent 3 treatments of AC, 11 treatments of taxol and 19 consecutive days of radiation. I had my first bilateral after surgery last year and every thing looked fine, but I went for my second year bilateral yesterday, and on the mammo they found calcifications on the same left breast. I was able to get a biopsy yesterday and am now awaiting results. I have the support of husband and two sons , and my extended family. Is there any one who has had this issue that I can relate and ask what to expect. Thanks for this support group that I can read all of the upbeat stories for us with TN.

I'm sorta in the same boat, but too upset to talk. I'm so sorry.

calcifications does not always mean cancer, it just increase the risk. A friend doctor from anderson told me once that calcifications nowadays should be biopsied. I hope this helped you mkd55 and shorfi.

thanks Woody, it helped somewhat. I will post my experience...

Hi..I am a two time survivor of breast cancer, first one being 10 years ago. I had bilateral mastectomies on August 1, 2013. Back in May I noticed a lump on the reconstructed breast after just having had my final exchange surgery on April 9,2014. Fortunately it turned out to be fat necrosis. Ow another lump in the right breast after just seeing my PS for routine follow up. I mentioned to him that there was a lump again, but on the other side. He seemed to brush me off and say that it was fat necrosis. He examined me and it hurt because he continued to palate it and said that was a good thing. I told him I wanted it out, but he wanted me to get an ultrasound first. I called one of the radiologists I work for and asked him to pull some strings for me to get the ultrasound today. I did five minutes later.
Went to the breast center and had the ultrasound and the radiologist there said she couldn't confirm that it was fat necrosis because she wasn't sure. So she has ordered a biopsy to be done on Tuesday. Needless to say I'm scared and so drained. I'm so over all this breast cancer crap, and here we go again. I'm praying so hard that it is nothing. If it is clear, my PS has agreed to remove it and do some fat grafting because of divots on the left breast from previous radiation 10 years ago. Originally I went in to get paperwork to have 3d tattoos done on my breasts, and now this. I'm so afraid to be happy,a d when I finally do, something new pops up. Thanks for letting me vent,

Thanks Woodylb and shorfi. My Doctor called yesterday with my results and it was benign. It appears that the calcifications arose from my earlier surgery
and only now manifested. Hang in there shorfi. I will add a special pray for you. Thanks for the support. -
Phewwww....my results came out to be benign. It was fat necrosis. Thank you ladies so much for your thoughts and prayers during this awful waiting period. -
Hello Everyone- I was just diagnosed 2 days ago with Stage 1, Grade 3 Invasive ductal carcinoma. As if that wasn't bad enough, today I was told that I am Triple Negative. I am so frightened and I don't feel that I am getting good answers about what surgery to have. They are saying all I need is lumpectomy but I am leaning towards bilteral mastectomy. It seems that studies show that there is a tiny better survival rate with the lumpectomy but my gut tells me to just take them both off. I will fill in my particulars later (I see many of yours at the bottom and that is most helpful. Oh but I could use some encouraging words. And your experiences especially if you are Triple Negative. Thank you
