edited August 2014 in Breast Reconstruction

I am two and a half years out from Tram flap reconstruction on my right side.  I was sitting on the couch with my husband and I stretched my right arm behind my head, nothing crazy though.  I got a horrible searing pain under my breast at the top of my rib cage.  It seems like this area is bulging out now, the pain has stopped, but I am feeling a little nauseous, because it really hurt.  Any ideas??

Wow was it like a charlie horse? Do you have any muscle relaxing meds. I got some left over from my DIEP surgery. Maybe motrin or Advil may help. Take care

Yes, that describes it pretty well.  I've never had anything like that happen before.  Do not have any muscle relaxers.  May take some ibuprofin.  Has settled down, but still hurts.

Hi cat24, we always recommend that you talk with your doctor or surgeon about what your going through, if only to put your mind at a bit more ease. Here is some general information on the main site about some risks of Tram reconstruction if it helps.

I did call my doctor's office and since it has been so long since the surgery, they didn't think it was connected to the surgery, which I didn't really think it was, but it is in the area that has never lay flat on my upper abdomen, under my breast.  My surgeon said that usually flattens down, but of course mine did not.  It is still a little achey today, but will see if this continues before making an appointment.  All I know is that last night it REALLY hurt.

Cat ,I think even now, had my DIEP april 11, 2012, I get strange feeling and jets of sharp pain coming and going. I think your muscle is still recovering.

I haven't had the charlie horse yet but I have this funny itching sensation under my arm and breast. It not really the skin itching it feels deep inside.

I think we are still healing.

Thanks Meow13.  I did go swimming on Monday - actually attempting to swim laps, maybe I stirred something up then.

Keep swimming if you can. I found swimming helps relieve the tightness. I just wish it would last longer than 1 hour after swimming.

Planning to keep swimming.  I really need to lose weight and get in shape.  I'm at my heaviest ever and not very happy about it.

Me too. I sometimes think the weight I've gained is really why I don't feel that great. But I still blame the AI for everything, at least it might be keeping the cancer away.

That's funny, we both have cat related names and cat avatars.  I have five cats (and four dogs).  The little guy in my picture is Simon (or Simey).  He looked like he was going to look something like a Siamese and have green eyes, but his eyes turned to gold and his coat is jet black and very silky.  Are those your kitties?

I got bought these persian cats in March the white one is a boy, Alaska (breeder named him),  he is now 9 months old, the other is a female calico, Callie, (so pretty) she will be 1 year old in September.

My kids are gone to college now and I thought these cats will fill a void. I love them so much, my kitty babies.

I had them both fixed. They need a lot of brushing and washing.

I don't have any other animals. My last cat Smokey died 20 years ago, it's so hard on me when they get old and die. But I figure they are inside cats and will live a long time.

You must be busy with all those animals.

My kids . have all moved out on their own - oops, my husband is still here - only joking.  Not quite sure how we would up with so many - two of the dogs and four of the cats are rescues.  We have two sibling pairs of cats: Shadow/Sweetpea, and Simon/Gabby.  Sabrina is the oldest and has acted like a mother to all of these cats at times.
