Hi ladies!
I'm starting rads on 8/26 so I'm over on the Fall Rads thread but wanted to post here in the hopes you can offer some suggestions. My RO suggested a I get a 100% cotton bra slightly bigger than I would normally wear to accommodate any swelling in the radiated breast. The wire-free bras I've been wearing post surgery are actually 95% nylon and 5% spandex. Any thoughts on a comfortable, wire free, 100% cotton bra? Finding a supportive (I'm normally a 34 D), 100% cotton bra has been more challenging than I thought!
Thanks!

Yay Rosie!!! So glad you are finished. Go celebrate...
I am almost done just 4 boost to go and we are definetly going to celebrate.
Have a wonderful day everybody! Hugs
-
Cmp I'm a D cup as well and I bought a Bali bra to wear. It was the most comfortable none rubbing bra I found. I only wore it when I went out otherwise I wore cotton tanks or tshirts with no bra. The less friction the better of you are. I took the suggestion of one of the ladies here and cut up a cotton tee and stuffed it around anyplace that felt like it even might rub! Good luck to you! Time passes quickly during rads!
-
thank you thank you cyber sistas!! Woohoo yippee and..BANGARANG!! DONE!!xoxoxo
-
YAY Rosie!!!!!!! So happy for you!
-
Rosie. BIG CONGRATULATIONS on finishing up on Rads. Now to get those little ones to behave at school. Best wishes on getting your strength back.
Today is 4 weeks post Rads for me and I think I am about back to my baseline on energy.
-
Congratulations Rosie! You look beautiful!
-
I saw the Rad Dr. Before rads. She said breast infection. Gave me antibiotic said to call her tomorrow. She stopped rads until she sees me Monday. Ugg five more days to finish rads.
-
You go Rosie!!! Look at that grin!
Good luck with the kiddos! I'm sure they'll be super excited to see you! Big ole cyber hugs! You did it!
-
Rosie, you look really great!!! Now the question is , what to we all do with these strange graduation certificates?!?
SailingWind, sorry about the infection and delay . What a pain, We look forward to our end dates but still it does go over quickly
-
Congrats, Rosie So sorry, Sailingwind.

Hi, CMP, I found Bestform front closure 95% cotton sports bras at KMart, I think Walmart or Target must carry them as well. Very comfortable, like Sunshine I put pieces of soft cotton t shirt material under any tender areas as time went on and wore no bras at home. Stephanie
-
lyzzysmom...good question about what to do with those certificates....A summer bonfire?? Lol...thanks gals for the cheers! I sure feel the love!! Rosie
-
Cmp, like Sunshineinky I bought a Bali bra. It's the best bra that I have. It's so comfie and it doesn't rub against my skin. I don't wear a bra when I don't have to and at night when I sleep, I don't wear anything on top. I let the air get to the area as much as possible.
I'm down to the last 2 rads!
-
The day before my BMX, I had a bra burning ceremony on the beach. My family and friends came , we danced around the fire, we sipped wine from a tacky nipple coffee mug and wished by boobies well on the 'other side. BTW, we had to use lighter fluid to get it to burn! We buried the remnant underwire and fasteners...(I can only imagine someone treasure hunter getting a hit on the metal with his detector and wondering what the hell is this?!).. I am contemplating doing something similar when I am done with Rads.

Congrats Rosie I cant wait until my day comes! Jbokland I love the pictures above that was awesome.
-
Rosie, Whoop whoop! CONGRAT's on finishing!! Must feel sooooo great!! Justundie, you're almost there too!! Awesome!
And jbokland, 3rdtime Amelia and all, that must feel good to be on the downhill side. Hope all continues to be good!
Izzy, I'm looking up the shirt thing too to order. Thanks for the info!
Vettegirl, victorialee and dfroberts, how are all you doing?
Well I have some skin changes starting. On 16 of 33. A red rash like area under arm on side. RO said the hair folicles are reacting to the rad and to start using hydrocortisone cream 3x day + up my Miaderm cream to 4x day. Doesnt itch...yet. Also the breast and aerola/nipple are much darker now then the non-rad breast.
Well take care!
-
jbokland, can't wait to see what you come up with this time. As I've said before, I would love to live in your head for just one day... I think it would be a blast! I've loved seeing this picture before, and the head shaving party and fundraiser, and sassy head etc. You definitely figure a way to make something good from something bad...or when given lemons...you make lemonade...or maybe a vodka and tonic with that lemonade!
-
LOL...thanks Lisa! I have one more to make you laugh. We played a hide and seek game at a local mall and called it Where's Baldo?- (it took her 10 minutes to find me)
-
Fabulous pix, jbok! Thanks for the giggle.
Nancy, love the shirt!
Hang in there mripp. I think that's about the time I started turning red but not enough to bug me.
Well, on day 26 my skin is red and starting to peel in a small section under my arm. The nurses said the skin would most likely open up this weekend, so I have joined Club Silvadene. May it work so I can stay on schedule. For those using it, do you apply it once or twice a day? Or as needed? I didn't get any info. Will call the RO to verify, but just wondering how the rest of you use it.
-
yup jbokland...you did it again. I believe you've shared this one before..before we've gotten to know you better. Hysterical!! We never know what we will see. You fit in perfectly with the mannequins! When at the mall today I noticed how all the mannequins are bald. I guess bald really is beautiful and stylish. Remember that girls! Make sure you repost this on the other forums. The other chemo baldies might appreciate and get a good laugh just when it's needed. You would love the insomniac forum...they are a riot "over there"
-
SunshineinKY, 3rdtimenow & jstundie-
Thanks so much for the recommendations. Going to look into both options this weekend. Thanks also for the cotton tee suggestion!
Good luck finishing up rads....so close!
Thanks!
-
jbokland love love the picture
-
Amelia I used the silvadene 3x's a day. If you do open up demand some miaplex bandages. They healed me quickly and I had no break in rads.
Jbok, I had to look at the picture several minutes to find you! Everyone needs a dose of your attitude! When I found you I giggled!
For those that are already on the devil pill (tamoxifen) have you noticed any muscle aches? I've got 3 new lumps on my leg (not blood clots) and my thigh muscles ache. My doc is stumped on what to do!
Hope you all have had a good day! Who finishes tomorrow?!? I plan on drinking a nice large glass of wine in your honor! Hopefully two people will finish lol!
-
I love the picture jbok! Thank you for the smile!
Sunshineinky, I finish tomorrow! Enjoy that wine.
I ended up having to go to the doctor. I have a UTI. The doctor prescribed Cipro, it seems to have relieved some of the burning already. I feel really cold and I think it maybe from the urinary tract infection. It's not the chills, but just plain being cold. Ack!
-
Sorry Sunshine I don't finish until Tuesday!
I start tamoxifen on Wednesday. I am a little uneasy about side effects because I still have joint and muscle pain from the chemo. and that is bad enough.
jstundie sorry about the UTI hope you feel better quick.
Amelia I used silavdene 2 times a day after my treatment. I worked great for me and kept my blisters at bay.
jbokland thanks for the laugh. great picture!
Have a wonderful night everybody! hugs
-
Sunshine, I am on month #2 of Tamoxifen and so far have no real SE. I have a few warm flashes now and then, but as I've mentioned before they could be from the chemo. Good luck. Thanks to you and Debster for your Silvadene advice.
-
Amelia I'm a month ahead of you on the tamoxifen. I haven't had major side effects either other than night sweats. These muscle aches came on fairly suddenly. I'm hoping it'll be like the other random side effects and go away quickly!
Jst... Have a great day tomorrow!!! You'll be strutting out of that center! I hope you wake up feeling better!
Deb, it just means I get to have wine on Tuesday too! I'm not a big drinker but I love a good bottle of wine!
-
sunshine - you can have a glass on me on Monday 😀
No issues with Tamoxifen. I had warm flashes the first few days but even those have subsided. I sleep through the entire night. So far no weight gain which was a big concern. My husband says my mood is no different than before. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
jstundie- so sorry about UTI. You don't need anything else to deal with. Hope Cipro works quickly.
cmp - I have a Bali 3484. It is the only bra I can wear comfortably, if necessary. I bought a large pack of men's Hanes undershirts and wear them under everything. Keeps the aquaphor from getting on everything too and once this is over I plan to throw them all out.
jbokland - thank you for making my day! I had seen the bra burning pics before but not the mannequins.
