Lisa - you'll be great...can't wait to hear about it

3rdtime - Sorry you are having such discomfort. I guess plain, old hydrocortisone doesn't help? You're nearing the finish line...we'll all get there together!

3rdtime. Ask you RO  for a prescription strength steroid cream. I only needed it a few days and it stopped all the itching.

Lisa, So looking forward to hearing how your speech went. I am sure you will (or just have-  looking at the time now) do an amazing job!!!

Stephanie, that sound like torture, an itch you can't scratch, so hope it improves!!

Louanne, I went outside for one of the earlier super moons but got so bug bitten taking pics that this time I did not try!. This was from the one back in July. I would have had to go down to the local farm to get it rising.

Ladies, I hope everyone's week is going well so far. Yeay for those finishing tomorrow -  Rosie!!!

Oh well, better start some work now.....

I did it girls, shaky voice but no tears. You were all with me. We have all benefitted by the research from ACS. The survivors got a cupcake with a candle in it and it was lit and we then had to walk in and say our name and how long we've been a survivor. They said from the date of dx so I said 9 months. I was the most recent survivor. Hmmmm, wow, emotional. Anyone else going to be a team leader for making strides?

    Nice tshirt nancy.

Thanks for that beach picture! It was beautiful, and the closest I'll get to a vacation this summer.  Rads has taken up most of it, and when I'm done there are 4 days of summer left before school starts.  That week is filled with kid's ortho appointments and pre-back to school events. I feel really bad for my poor kids, no vacation trip this year. We hope to do something fun over spring break to make up for it.

Yesterday at rads (#23) they told me I had only 2 days left of supraclav! Then I'm down to 2 fields for the rest of the time.  I didn't know that, and will be celebrating removing that nasty looking sticker! It's been there a while and is looking gross around the edges.

Lisa, we will be there in spirit for your reading of your wonderful words. Go and show everyone your strenght!!

edit: Oops - obviously didn't scroll to the end of the posts.  Saw that you already gave your talk. Glad to hear it went well! It's a very emotional time for us all.

Nancy, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that T-shirt. Will have to find something similar to wear to work before I leave. If anybody is uncomfortable with it well that's just tough!! Love the photo of your family too.

Lisa, we knew you would do a wonderful job. What an emotional occasion. I am afraid I would have been in tears if I had been there!

Amelia,YES!! sounds like you will be done this week!! It feels like this whole summer just never happened, surreal. Just glad we had a few days in Vermont before rads started and have managed a little golf. Never spent much time on the deck and haven't made it to the beach or worn those regular summer clothes. Not so bad for me as main vacation is late fall but such a shame if you have kids!! Hopefully next year will be so much better for us all.

Lisa I am going to be a team leader for the making strides walk in Hamilton County here in Indiana  Oct 18. My team is Team Collett. Still trying to recruit team members and get some donations. I am really looking forward to it. The ACS does do a lot of great things and I am looking forward to supporting a great cause.

You ladies have done a good dead today! I didn't know anything about the making strides campaign! So now I'm going to research it.

Lisa, I'm so glad you didn't cry.  I still get emotional with certain people. Especially other survivors! They cry, I cry but it's ok.  Crying is good for the soul.

My legs are aching today.  This little white devil pill (tamoxifen) seems to give me a new side effect every month or so.  Hopefully this will be like the rest of the side effects and go away! It's almost like I've been running.  I know that's not happened lol because nothing's chased me lately!

Anyhow, hope everyone has had a great day! Nicollet please ask your friend where she got that tshirt.  I'd love to get one and treat a former high school classmate who was just diagnosed to one as well.

yes I still get emotional too, lots of times, but I think I was more nervous and I guess I couldn't cry and be nervous at the same time so that's good. I think there is a making strides walk lots of places on oct 18. Let's all walk "together"but  in different parts of the country.

Rosie, hip hip horray for you. Finally! A long haul for you with the skin issues. How have you done with the boosts? Is your skin in the other areas settling down?

Sunshine, I found one of the Tees on Amazon, if you search on Sorry Cancer Tee Shirt!! Does not say what size so hoping its not XS as I ordered even though there was hardly any info. Will also take a look to find out more about making strides.

Rosie, I am waiting to find out which little devil I am going on too .Hope to find out next week.  I had been lifting weights and using recumbent bike trying to get fit and reduce fatigue before I start. Its pathetic, yesterday I jogged 20 laps of the indoor track at the local gym ( just 1 1/4 miles)  slower than most people walk and today my backside is aching . The exercise is building muscle I guess (at least thats my excuse) so my weight is going up not down in spite of sensible eating.

Lisa way to go!  I will have to look into being a team leader. You have inspired me!

    Nancy I love the shirt!

lyzzsmom, WoW! I love the picture. Thank you for sharing.

I'll be done Friday! I can't wait. My skin is looking pretty rough especially the underarm and I'm beet red on the rest of my breast. I'm so glad to be done with the entire breast, clavicle, underarm and back! I can't wait to have this over with. I have to say you ladies were right! It goes faster than one thinks

Ladies, now I understand how to get the T shirts. If you order from Amazon the Vendor will send a mail asking what color and size you would like.

JS. Only a few more days and the healing will begin!!

I had my first session at the YMCA Live Strong program.  I am VERY excited to do this....and I hate exercise!   I am so freaking impress that is a free program for me AND my caregiver.  The fitness trainer is certified in working with cancer patients and there are only 5 of us in the session.

24/28 treatments...then just 5 boosts.   What is that, I see........oh, it's the light at the end of the tunnel!

JB, I have been thinking about that program. The RO gave me a pamphlet but I didn't bother as we already had a gym membership and  I do get bored with exercise easily. It sounds like you really enjoyed your first session. I am so pleased for you!! I may check it out as I am really trying to exercise most days but not sure how long my motivation will stay unless I try a group and a  knowledgeable instructor would help. There is a YMCA not that far from us but not sure if that one participates in the program. They do have a nice pool.....

Lisa...yes, my skin settled down this past weekend and I am doing fine with boosts!  Can't believe I will be done tomorrow!  I have been going to my classroom and setting up even though our workdays start next week...I am so excited to be back...but it's weird how I find things shoved in a corner and realize I just put stuff anywhere when I had to leave so quickly after diagnosis in January...it's like I have these little flashbacks of those few weeks back in December...anyway...it's behind me and I am just so happy to be done!!  Rosie

Seeing the light too, Jbok, 2 more and then 5 boosts, can't wait. Glad things settled down for you Rosie, yay for tomorrow. Can't wait to be done with whole breast, poor skin needs to heal soon. Izzysmom, I hear you on the exercise, dragging myself to the gym, just so tired. Great job today, Lisa. When I was still working my school did relay for life and I walked in the survivor group, very emotional to be amongst all of those strong cancer warriors, my fellow survivor from our team was a 10 year old survivor who had brain cancer. I ran into her in the supermarket recently, she graduated high school and is doing great! Stephanie

Big hugs Rosie!!!! My hearts happy for you! Jst you're right behind her.  My underarm gave me fits but it's amazing how fast we heal!

Izzy thanks for doing the legwork on the shirt! I'm ordering one!

Jbok we have a YMCA so I'm going to call tomorrow and see if we have this program! You look so fit! I'm more out of shape than I've ever been and so discouraged by it!

Hello ladies my friend said she got my shirt at Fight Cancer Shirts.com they have a lot of really cute shirts to choose from not just BC but all kinds. You just choose the color of ribbon or wording for the type of cancer you have. Lisa you are an inspiration and I hope I can be as positive as you.

Ok here's a link to an article about the benefits of just a brief walk everyday, (or as often as possible). Improved cognitive function! I'll take anything that will help! Gotta get these legs going again for the komen run on sept 13 and walking strides on October 19

SailingWind, I think a lot of us get the occasional zinger and I still get some pain and tenderness inside the breast, not bad but not sure how much is surgery rather than rads related. I would be careful about the ice and definitely ask you RO today as I was told nothing very hot or cold like ice on it during rads. Hopefully your RO will be able to help.
