We're in MN. Our hummers will leave next week and return the first week of May. I'm always sad to see them go. This year they were great company while I did the chemo thing.
-
The ruby-throated hummingbirds will probably migrate no later then
October in the North Country. I still have a feeder to help them eat more to gain weight
that will be valuable energy for their upcoming long flight. -
Ours never migrate. They're here year round.
-
Lucky!

The following was taken from on-line.
The monarch butterfly population has been shrinking for nearly two
decades in the Adirondacks and throughout North America, and now
scientists are asking the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to take action
to stop the decline. In late August, the Center for Biological Diversity, Xerces
Society, Center for Food Safety and biologist Lincoln Brower filed a
petition with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect monarchs
under the Endangered Species Act.Scientists say that the
monarchs' population has declined by more than 90 percent in less than
20 years and that they have lost more than 165 million acres of habitat,
including nearly a third of their summer breeding grounds. -
