I hope insurance companies will be accepting of immune therapy. A friend of mine with colon cancer that went to the liver was only given 4 months to live with chemo a couple months longer she researched and finally got a plane to Germany and did immune therapy with almost no side effects that was about 2 years ago. She has tumor markers they can monitor so far all the cancer is gone. They resected her liver and took out the colon cancer, her husband is retired but I used to work with him the insurance we both have didn't pay for any of her immune therapy. She says that she was not accepted into any US trials because they didn't expect her to live long enough or she needed to have done the chemo first. They were lucky they had the money to send her to Germany.

Bicque----you are awesome. Thanks for helping me add something else to my list of things to do.
"Perhaps we should consider doing something similiar by funding post secondary education for students with a vented interest in finding the cure?"

Perhaps we will find young people who have seen first or second hand the current treatment available and see a need to change. -
Meow,, wow,, that is great news for your friend. -
Oh I know she was trying to get the word out. She went back to her original onco and told him. He was very excited for her but told her that her outcome was definately not the normal expected outcome. She said well you could tell your patients and let them decide. He still held fast that she basically hit the lottery and that immune therapy is not there yet.

I know the article was a little old but there are some recent posts to it. You just have to search around. I still believe a lot of it holds true no matter which cancer you have. I had read a more current article but I can't find it. I will keep looking.
Meow, that is so awesome for your friend. I wish the Dr.s here would look more closely at some of the things being done abroad. But if it falls out of the set "standard of care", they won't touch it. Not really blaming them they would probably be ousted. Even my own RO mentioned that if they could do treatment in a hyperbaric chamber it would almost cure it as cancer cannot live in high oxygen. Then she realized what she said and said it would be infeasible. When I stated that it would probably be more feasible and less SE and damage for the patient than the Linier machines, she quickly changed the subject.

I'd like to see October turned to Cancer Cure Month. All Cancers. Enough awareness of all kinds already. I am grateful for the advances made. Since my diagnoses 3 years ago 2 more tx for Her2 early stagers have come on board. May they find help for those tin late stages and trip neg as well. And all other versions of that Damn cancer.
Much love to all.

Moonflwr912, I like the way you think. I'm so happy that you are doing well.

I never get tired of hearing good news. I especially hope our stage 4 sisters get some good treatment options. There has been far too much suffering. Just like the Ebola victims get the new medicines to the people who need them the most.

It's sad that the PINK thing has just turned into a money maker for the companies. Most of them only contribute pennies on the dollar to "the cause". And many put out products that actually increase or cause cancer. It is disgusting. And they say say it goes to research, yep to the big pharms so they can create more poisons for us. They don't want to cure it. It has turned into a huge business. And an extremely profitable one.
While I was at one of my follow ups the other day, someone mentioned how parking was getting really bad. I commented that it was sad, I got a funny look and Had to explain that is really sad that so many more people are being diagnosed.
And teachermom4, my hubbie really wanted me to have the radiation. After it was all done, I asked him how he would feel if they made him drop his drawers, put him on a slab, fiddled with his junk, used duct tape to move some of his junk out of the way and comment on how they had never seen such a thing before. Rip of the duct tape. Deal with pain, swelling, skin, and still be dealing with issues months after treatment had ended. Case closed.

In response to the title of this thread, I suspect that a man who has lost a testicle to cancer or dying of prostate cancer hates Movember as much as we hate pink October. They're both stupid and do absolutely nothing except exploit. Even my son, who regularly participates in Movember admits it's more for fun and has absolutely NOTHING to do with furthering a cause. It bothers him that it's related to such serious diseases. They just do it at their job to see who can come up with the most creative 'stache. All fun, no substance. So dumb. Not unlike that ice-bucket challenge. That did what exactly? Give apathetic, attention-seeking fame whores a reason to get their face on youtube?
