The average person only gets 7 correct.
This is based on U.S. Info, so use all lobes of your brain. This can be more difficult than it looks - it just shows how little most of us really see!

There are 25 questions about things we see every day or have known about all our lives. How many can you get right? These little simple questions are harder than you think-- it just shows you how little we pay attention to the commonplace things of life.

Put your thinking caps on. No cheating! No looking around! No getting out of your chair! No using anything on or in your desk or computer!

Can you beat 20?? (The average is 7) Write down your answers as you go.

Check answers (at the bottom), AFTER completing all the questions.

REMEMBER - NO CHEATING!!! BE HONEST!!! That means no looking at your phone or anything on your desk...

Then, before you pass this on to your friends, change the number on the subject line to show how many you got correct. Forward to your friends and also back to the one who sent it to you.

LET'S JUST SEE HOW OBSERVANT YOU REALLY ARE.
    1. On a standard traffic light, is the green on the top or bottom?

    2. How many states are there in the USA ? (Don't laugh, some people don't know)

    3. In which hand is the Statue of Liberty 's torch?

    4. What six colors are on t he classic Campbell 's soup label?

    5. What two numbers on the telephone dial don't have letters by them?

    6. When you walk does your left arm swing with your right or left leg?
(Don't you dare get up to see!)

    7. How many matches are in a standard pack?

    8. On the United States flag is the top stripe red or white?

    9. What is the lowest number on the FM dial?

    10. Which way does water go down the drain, counter or clockwise?

    11. Which way does a "no smoking" sign's slash run?

    12. How many channels on a VHF TV dial?

13 On which side of a women's blouse are the buttons?

    14. Which way do fans rotate?

15 How many sides does a st op sign have?

    16. Do books have even-numbered pages on the right or left side?

17 How many lug nuts are on a standard car whee l ?

    18. How many sides are there on a standard pencil?

    19. Sleepy, Happy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc. Who's missing?

    20. How many hot dog buns are in a standard package?

21 On which playing card is the card maker's trademark?

22 On which side of a Venetian blind is the cord that adjusts the opening between the slats?

    23. There are 12 buttons on a touch tone phone. What 2 symbols bear no digits?

    24. How many curves are there in the standard paper clip?

    25. Does a merry-go-round turn counter or clockwise?

I can't believe I got the buttons on blouse thing wrong! I also got the lug nuts and # of hot dog buns wrong. As my daughter tells me, I'm a smartypants when it comes to trivia. Too bad I'm not always a smartypants.

That was fun, but Mary Lou, it looks like you couldn't sleep last night. I couldn't either. What's going on? I will try that chicken recipe. It looks really good. Thanks for the point talley. My point problem is breakfast. When I add up my orange juice (can't get the vitos or the meds down without it), the half banana and the cereal (I make my own and LOVE it, but it has pumpkin seeds and sliced almonds in it), I'm already down 8 points. I just can't shave any off there.

This morning I go to be measured for compression sleeves and gloves to wear when I fly. Yay, this means I will be a traveling girl once again!

Hope all my sisters have a very good day.

Yes, thanks MaryLou for the chicken recipe. I have made it before and it was great! But I could never find the recipe again. Someone posted a tomato basil soup recipe in triple neg. I am going to make both soon!

Today is my second grader's first day of school. He was ready (shoes on, backpack on, hair combed) by 7 am. I guess he is a little excited. He read the school handbook last night.

The other 2 start in a couple of weeks. My kindegartner-to-be is in bed with a cold. Poor guy. We have been healthy since last April- what a drag for the little ones.

Hoping everyone has a great week!

I remember how exciting this time of year was back when I was a teacher and also when my daughter was a little scholar. Oh how fun it was to set out the year's goals and crack open the brand new notebooks. I miss that, but I am looking forward to some crunchy leaves at some point. And Halloween. Last year I started A/C on Halloween; I can hardly believe it. Can you all believe we did all that??????? Are we something, or are we SOMETHING?

Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 70s. Almost sweater weather, Mary Lou! I bet you are having fun running around with loose clothes these days.

    Hugs to all,

    Anna

Mary Lou - Thanks for sharing the recipe, and for the pop quiz. I enjoyed both.

Margerie - Hair combed and all... too cute. Wow...impressive. BIG BOY now. I wish him a terrific year. Steven still does not like to comb his hair and I have to keep reminding him to brush ALL his teeth not just the front ones. Hope your little one feels better soon.

Anna – Yes, I absolutely love the smell of new school supplies! OK, some may think it’s weird but I really enjoy shopping for new school supplies. Hope your SIL continues his road to recovery. Yes, Halloween is soon approaching. I can't believe it???

Debbie – Where are you? I miss you.

Kim – Hope you are feeling better and will be able to talk with us soon.

Well, today is exactly a year I received the dx. Wow... what a year! I feel very blessed!

We have been stuck indoors for two days waiting for possible Hurricane Ernesto. But, we dodged another bullet and got only rain. Thank God! Tomorrow is back to work and school again.

Have a great day. Love and hugs,

Odalys, Happy Cancer-versary! You've made it a year, and you have MANY more to go! It's a thrill and, and in a weird way, an honor to be able to tell people that we've done what we've done over the last 12 months, isn't it?

I'm really tired-Daniel had an EEG this morning to check for possible nocturnal seizures. It's scary waiting for test results, but it will be good to know why our baby doesn't sleep well and be able to fix it. Poor kid-he is still sleeping right now (4:20). He threw up after lunch, too. Then, my little angel cried uncontrollably for 20 minutes. Breaks my heart when he is in pain!

Well, lots to say, but I'm going to rest my weary little head until Daniel wakes up in a few minutes. I miss you guys, and I'm still waiting to see how/when/where we get together!
PS-I LOVE the fall-It reminds me of when I was teaching, too (as if that was so long ago!). I can't wait for it to get cold, I can actually fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes (unlike last fall). Although, I sheepishly admit I have been steady at keeping on my two pound weight gain and keep eating like I'm invincible.
    Love and prayers, Debbie

I gotta tell you ladies...I know I posted my worries about dh the other day, and I am still worried about him.
I just have to say that my dh got a pair of glasses nearly 2 years ago and never wears them.
I have always had a "thing" for the intellectual look. Well, the other day I mentioned that I didn't want to go to Sam's Club since I had my glasses on. He (being a loving and supportive hubby) said, "I'll wear mine, too!"

He put his glasses on, and BOOM! Suddenly, I became all shy and bashful. I crack myself up now when I think of how his simple pair of glasses made me feel like he was some new hot guy I was flirting with.
It was good to remember that feeling of newness.

Awww Deb, that is so sweet. I think you guys just need some time to mend. It is tough to bounce back.

Michael and I have some ups and downs too. It has all been a shock and the year is almost gone. I found out the 20th of Sept.

Yes, gals we have been for the ride of a life time for sure. And we made it through.

Anna, just look in your WW book under core foods. I think you will be fine. Where is Lat56 and Nancy?

Special Kaye, I still pray for you as I do for all my sisters here on the Nov 2005.

Odalys, I am so glad Ernesto petered out. We are supposed to get some of that rain up here, too, and let me tell you, we are excited about rain! Things are beginning to look yellowishbrown instead of green.

My daughter called this morning from the emergency room where she had taken her husband. He retched all night long and neither one of them slept at all. He started complaining of unbearable pain around 3 a.m. and she just managed to get him to the hospital. He has been admitted, but they don'[t have a room for him yet, so he's in a cubby off the ER. No obstruction, but also no proper processing of anything either. He is on an IV and she says he is more comfortable now. I worry she will crack at some point, poor thing still hasn't unpacked her cases and she starts meetings for the new school year tomorrow. She was supposed to perform in her band tonight, but I think she is having to cancel that. I'm praying a lot.

As for anniversaries, I got my actual diagnosis mid-August and had surgery on September 14th. The path report came back on September 23. That was the bad day. What we had thought was mere DCIS turned out to be a microinvasion with two positive nodes, hence chemo. My husband and I are planning to pop a bottle of champagne on the 14th, because that day was a killer for him, and he is so glad it is almost a year behind us. My surgery took 11 hours and he just sat and felt fear the whole time.

    I love champagne!

Debbie, I agree about the newness thing. When my hubs travels (which he rarely does without me now), I always get terribly excited when he comes home because he looks new to me. I'm a weirdy that way.

Yes, Nancy and Kaye, I miss you and hope you are well.

And Kim, I hope you are healing right now.

    Love to all,

    Anna

LOL Odalys- you are so funny!

Can I say we had an earthquake and show a picture of my daughter's room?

Hope everyone is having a great week. My onc just emailed- he is starting a young cancer survivor's support group. I think it is a great idea. But I have never, seriously, seen anyone under 65 in his office yet. I always feel like the only young person with cancer in this county!

It's the way the media have nothing better to do than whip us up into a state of total alarm. Our local news showed preparations for Ernesto for 25 minutes last night, and we are way up here near DC! Maybe nothing else is happening in the world? Right.

I love the tranquilizer with no side effects.

Just a quick note to say Hi to everyone. I do keep up with reading the posts on this board and sometimes I check a couple of others. This is the one place that I truely feel connected to!!
Things are going okay - still some issues with fatigue! I'm working a 4 hour shift, 3 times a week and so far that is working out okay. At this point, I don't ever feel like I'll be able to work full-time again. Which means I'll lose my benefits, life insurance, disability insurance, dental & optical insurance, vacation time (health insurance is thru my hubby). But......what is a gal to do????
All of you are in my thoughts & prayers!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

lat56, it is good to hear from you. The fatigue issue is a hard one. I get more and more tired after each Herceptin treatment nowadays. All I want to do is doze for the rest of the day.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

    Hi friends,
I am writing this morning with my heart full of guilt. This past year while I have been going through all this bc stuff, Steven has been entertaining himself and spending too much time playing with his electronic games (Nintendo DS). I know those small toys are not good for the eyes because they force the eye muscles. Well, yesterday we learned his eyesight deteriorated a lot. His prescription tripled. I feel so guilty for being preocupied with all this bc stuff and not noticing how much time he was spending. I feel like a bad mother this morning. I just want to cry.......

No, Odalys, you are not a bad mother! You have had things on your mind and you have not had the energy to tempt Steven into doing other activities. Now at least you have a tangible reason to offer him why he should do other things than play electronic games. He won't want to end up with thick glasses, will he?

Being a parent brings so much guilt....

    Hugs and love,

    Anna

Hi ladies! I am actually off to Wal Mart to get the stuff to make my rads people a Hot Dog cake and hamburger cookies. Someone from church is coming over here tomorrow to help me do it! I am really excited-I love doing stuff like this!
    I love you all!
    Love and prayers, Deb
PS-Odalys, I can understand the guilt thing, too. I carried a lot of guilt when I couldn't do at home therapy with Daniel and felt like he lost a lot of the use of his left arm. Now I feel like I did what I had to do so that I could CONTINUE to do those things with my son. You HAD to do the bc stuff BECAUSE you are a good parent. Don't blame yourself-you can't control these things! You are a good mom. Repeat that to yourself 298 times a day!

Thanks Anna and Debbie for your support and words of encouragement. I spoke to Jose about it and he did not feel guilty but feels we've done the best we could to get through this past year. Is there ever an end to a mother's guilt???

Debbie - so sorry about Daniel's struggles. It must be so hard for him but also for you and your hubby. I will pray for your family.

Mary Lou - Wow...Carla looks great! How inspirational. Her picture reminded me of how much I want to be a size 10 again.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Love and hugs,

BCMary, I also frequent the weight watchers boards (have for years). Mostly on the GDT but I have posted a few times to the board Carla is on and from that board had started the Firm and Turbojam. She is a very inspirational, motivated indivual and I hope to be posting there again soon when I get through this ordeal and start working out again.

Take your husband's lead on this, Odalys. Let go of the guilt. I bet you think it will all go away when your son is 25 or so, right? Well, it won't, so practice letting go now. You might get a little better at it as time goes on.

I agree, Carla does look great. Very inspirational. I am still hovering around the minus ten pound mark, and would love to go down a further ten, but I am going to take my sweet time with it. The slower it comes off, the easier it will be to keep it off, that's my thinking. I am just learning to think before filling my mouth, that's a big part of it.

Debbie, it is always good to hear your voice in here. You have been busy lately, how is that going? Has the new furniture come yet? Remember how I said I was doing an experiment to see how long my house could survive without a real cleaning session? Well, it has been quite a while....

There's too much other stuff to do in a day.

    Love, Anna

    Hi ladies,
The hubby and son are fast asleep in bed, and I stayed up to pay bills! I thought I'd treat myself to a quick visit to my dear bc sisters.....

Anna-thank you for the "welcome back!" I had to say that I cracked up at your experiment in not cleaning house-I'm so glad to see that the experiment has been a success so far! Also, thanks for asking about the furniture. We had another garage sale on Saturday and sold everything, so we have camping chairs set up in the living room, and stacks of stuff in every corner! The furniture is supposed to arrive "soon" to quote the salesperson. I can't wait to have pretty furniture that matches!
Carla looks fantastic! Gheesh. I almost miss chemo because my clothes were just hanging on me! Since I have had my appetite back it has been a constant struggle. I was down another 10 pounds after surgery, but I've gained 8 of it back.
My oncologist "warned" me the other day that I had better keep the weight off to stay healthy. How much does that stink?!?! Now I feel like if I gain an ounce, then I can expect another tumor to grow. I don't like living in fear.
I try to hand it all over to our loving Father, and I have success most of the time. Sometimes, though, the fear comes creeping back.

For instance, the radiation machine has been broken since Friday!!!! I can't help but wonder what that does to my treatment plan.

Well, I'd better get to bed. I have an early appt. to get a "fat" skirt altered to fit my "skinny" butt. How is that for an incentive?

PS-good to see some of our other sisters here lately! We've missed you!
    Love and prayers, Deb

Good to hear from you Deb! I agree, I battle with the weight factor. I am the same weight (needed to loose) as before all this crap started. It was hard this summer with all the kids out of school to exercise regularly- but I manage at least a couple of hours a week. My problem is I haven't met a sweet I didn't like and tend to "reward" my self with them. Now I have this surgery coming up and I PROMISE to get my act together when it's over.

That reminds me, a week from today I will be waking up to two breasts instead of one- hooray!! No more fake boob checks, or worrying when someone comes over that I didn't put it on. Don't get me wrong- surgery makes me want to run far, far away. Can't wait to get it over with!

Herceptin today. I think only 8 more to go (but may elect another year so it would be more like 30 more to go)

    Take care dear friends,

    Margerie
