Tiny lump at the end of lumpectomy scar - please help

Options

Today I have found some 3mm lump underneath the skin, right at the end of lumpectomy scar.

I wonder if it could be local recurrence or possibly it is some scar tissue. Anyone had false alarms?

I am in the middle of dose dense chemo right now. Tomorrow I see my MO, but right now I am freaking out.

Any insight highly appreciated!

Could you have a dissolvable stitch that didn't dissolve? That's what happened to me.

I was like Ruth and had an undisolved stitch. Also fat necrosis can present like that as well. I had my stupid little ball of crap removed 4 years after I found it just to get it out and it was biopsied at the time and was benign. No one I showed it to seemed as concerned as me, but I was getting other lumps out and they just added this one to the pile. Keep us posted. And know you are not alone.

God bless you all, ladies, for giving me some hope.

Though it feels oh so familiar. Just exactly the way the first cancer lump felt.

I hope the chemo works and all this effort is not wasted..

I also wonder - how soon after the surgery did you find those lumps?

I found one when the worst of the swelling went down, the other pea-side one just kind of snuck up on me and I can't exactly remember if it was weeks or months till I found it. You might have a lymph node reacting to the chemo, too, remember.

Ask them to poke around next time you go in, but it is almost certainly not cancer.....it would take much longer than you've been out for another cancerous lump you could feel to develop.

extremely unlikely..too soon for something to become palpable

The same thing happened to me.  My surgeon removed the lump and determined that it was fat necrosis. I'm hoping it's the same for you. :)

Hi Cherryhill, I am another who had a lump, which was an undissolved stitch, soon after my Mx.

I have just had another scare, I found a lump, just under my scar. I had to have it biopsied last week and I just got my pathology result today, it is all clear, it was a cyst.  Phew!

There are so many things your lump could be, other than BC. I wish you all the best and will be hoping it turns out to be nothing!

Let us know how you get on.

I have one -- it turns out to be part of the scar.  I've had it for years now.

T'would be surprising if it's cancer.  Hope it turns out to be nothing.

Thank you all, girls, for your good wishes!

Both MO and surgeon think its undissolved stitch which formed a scar tissue around it. Phew...Today is the best day of my life. I think it's the first time since Dx that I got some really good news :)

May God keep each and every one of you, of us, safe.
