Aloe vera gel and other delicate skin soothers
I've seen a lot of mention of using alcohol free aloe vera gel to help sooth skin after radiation. I found some Aloe vera gel that says it's 99.9 % aloe gel, and in the ingredient list in plain sight on box it says Polysaccharide-titred 100% pure Aloe Vera, natural Citric Acid, Sodium Phytate (extracted from rice). But now that I've bought it, I see that on the bottom of box it has a different ingredient list: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Xanthan gum, BENZYL ALCOHOL, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Phytate, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid. So--- there IS a tiny bit of alcohol. Is that enough to cause a potential problem?
Also, I tend to have very sensitive skin. I tried putting this aloe vera gel on my lips after they got a bit irritated by the sun, and I'm pretty sure it's resposible for making them swell and get a lot worse.... So I'm worrying that maybe ANY kind of Aloe vera gel, even without alcohol might not be a good thing for me to smear on in such a delicate moment. (but of course, I don't know if my lips were reacting to the aloe itself or one of the minor components in that other 0.1%. I know- no one can know what I'll be allergic or sensitive to, since I don't -- but anyone here with sensitive reactive skin use something different than aloe gel? I think I'll try everything first on my lips, in this period that I'm waiting (and waiting and waiting!) to hear surgery date, to see how I react to it.
(Yikes, that's making me start to hope the surgery doesn't happen soon so I have more time to find a moisturizing product!) No, no, I want this thing OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Sorry about my lack of signature, but all I know so far is that it's IDC, that echography doc says is 1.1 cm, but that it feels about double that size to me. They'll do a quadrantectomy (when they get around to deciding to do it!) No clear signs of metastases so far, although I do have ALP elevated to 218... Hoping that's just a result of a possible Vit D deficiency and a drug I'm taking...) Got biopsy result a month ago and now waiting my turn to get chopped and burned. I live in Italy, so specific brand names of moisturizing products used probably won't help me as much as knowing what's in the product.) Thanks!!
