Chemo jaw

Options

I lost my chemo group and had a question. About 3 weeks ago I did my 11th and final round of Taxol. 2 weeks ago I started A/C. I have been having horrible jaw pain. Not doing anything and it feels like I've been chewing on jerky all day. Is this normal? Also, my hair started growing back and hasn't fallen out yet. It has only been 2 weeks since starting ac so I don't know what to expect.

Coop, while I suppose jaw pain could be due to chemo, it's probably not a common SE.  What comes to mind when you hear of jaw pain is something quite serious (though extremely rare)  that can happen to women who are on bisphosphonates (bone building drugs).  Are you possibly on one of those, or have you been in the recent past?

As far as losing your chemo group... you might already know this, but you can probably find them in the Chemotherapy Forum (under All Topics) by the month you started.  Or you can always join a new one for the type of chemo you're doing.

Good luck with the A/C!   (((Hugs)))  Deanna

This may be a stretch, but could you be clenching your teeth at night from all the stress/anxiety.  It's called TMJ (sometimes teeth grinding is involved and you may not even know your'e doing it).  Again, may be a long shot, but something to look into.

I talked to my doc and he said the anti nausea meds he has me on can cause jaw pain. It's nice to know it's not all in my head.

Coop, you can also come join our weekly taxol group.  It's an active thread that may be helpful.  Good luck!

I had jaw pain twice during chemo, but both times it went away after a few days.  Mine was from my teeth all the way up to my ear.   Since it went away each time, I didn't worry about it.
