I can see why people decide not to go through with the reconstruction process.  I only had my left breast removed and decided to do an implant there.  Well after the mastectomy and expander was put in place in January 2014, it's been a constant nagging pain there.  It's not as bad as it was but it's still uncomfortable.  I just had the reduction on the right best and that is now hurting, I was told it could take 4-6 weeks for that to heal.  i still have to have the expander taken out and implant put in the fall.  then hopefully that will be the end of it.  I still feel tired and I have a bad case of Chemo brain, anyone else have that issue?  It's really strange.  I am lucky to be here and shouldn't whine about the pain, it could be ALLOT worse.

Blondie, the difference between the TE and the permanent silicone is night and day.  I always felt the TEs, knew they were there, they were tight and really firm, and pulled whenever I did anything using my pectoral muscles.  Including carrying milk gallons or opening jars.

The exchange was the easiest surgery I've had, and recovery time was very quick.  It feels more natural and they don't pull anymore.  Not to say it feels like BEFORE, with real breasts, but it's a definite improvement.  I hope your experience will be positive.

My chemo brain has also receded!  Not completely (not sure if that will ever happen) but it's much improved.

Thank you, it's so nice to have these forums to talk to other people that have been through or are going through what you did. :)

Well that is great to hear.  I can't wait to have this thing removed.  The first few months were the worse.  It's just like having a rock in there.  I know it will never be normal again but for everything to be over will make me very happy.

You're welcome.  I've learned a lot from these boards too! And I can't wait for all this to be over to.  We just have to find a new normal.
