Hi I have just been diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma they are not sure if its stage 2 or 3. will have surgery hopefully in these coming weeks. feeling scared.

    Hi ma70, so sorry you've had to join here, but Welcome! You'll find this a great resource for info and great ladies here who will offer support if you need it.

    Of course you're scared, it's a horrible time, especially this part, when it is testing and waiting. The fear of the unknown gets to all of us.

    Try to stay away from Google, do things you enjoy while you wait for answers. The one thing I learned was, all the stress and worry makes absolutely no difference to the outcome, but it can make you ill!

    Come here often and let us know how you're doing.

    welcome to the support group no one wants to join! But once you are here you find out the vast majority of us ARE living pretty normal and healthy lives after the initial treatments. My best advice was never make a decision based on fear and trust yourself and your intuition as well as your Doctors. Also you are in the WORST place right now, all the unknowns flooding your nerves, once you get a treatment plan you will feel different.

    There is a specific forum for ductal cancer on here, you may find some more specific advice there - good luck

    Besides sharing your experiences and learning from other members here at the boards, you may also want to take a look at the Breast Cancer 101 section from the main site, designed to help you sort through all of the information on our site to find what is more relevant to you right now, recently diagnosed.

    Also reliable information on IDC — Invasive Ductal Carcinoma where you'll learn about symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, etc.

    Hello! 

    You have joined a wonderful group of women and Mods here whom are very helpful. 

    Oh, I googled everything, but found it to make me more nervous. It is tough to stay off Google. 

    I was recently diagnosed Stage 3 Invasive Breast Cancer....It is OK to be nervous, and scared. Just PLEASE BREATHE! You will be all right. 

    If you have any questions, ask them! We're all here for you so remember, you are NOT alone. OK?

    Sorry you are your needing this site, but welcome. I was dx exactly one year ago, stage 3. It is a roller coaster of a ride. 

    I hope you have a surgeon that you are comfortable with, mine is wonderful. He pushed for a lumpectomy, along with my personal Dr., so I went with it. Much easier than a mastectomy, but they are necessary sometimes. The reconstruction process can be a nightmare, from what I have learned here.

    My chemo was aggressive & dose dense. You might not have the same regimen. Try to take one day at a time, and do whatever helps you to stay calm.

    Thanks so much for the responses so kind of you. By the way I am 43 yrs old and have a 16 yr old daughter. I have spoken to my surgeon  and have been offered a lumpectomy or mastectomy. I am unsure whitch to choose.

    Take your time to make your decision about your surgery, there are options to weigh up, you'll know what feels right for you.

    I was diagnosed today with 1.1 centimeter invasive ductal carcinoma and await results of biopsy of mass on left side. I'm scared to death. My gynecologist was so matter of fact and negative when she called me. The team at the breast surgeon's office told me to keep my spirits up-that tumor isn't huge and they see worse with good survival stats. I'm 54 with two daughters-20 and 16.any suggestions are appreciated.

    Oh April, Welcome to BCO, I am so sorry to hear your news, but I would be listening to the team from the Breast Surgeon's office. I don't know what it is with Gynos, but a lot of them seem to approach breast issues the wrong way. Just not their area I guess.

    You are definitely at the worst part of this right now. Waiting, not knowing much and fearing the unknown. It does improve when you start to get answers and have a plan. 

    I am not sure if I am reading this right, but you are waiting for another path result on the other side? That must be scary, but there is a very good chance this won't turn out to be anything sinister.

    I wish you all the very best and hope you'll let us know how you're getting on. There will be others along to welcome you. This is a great place for support and information. Everyone here has felt that awful fear you're feeling right now. Hugs to you!

    My prayers are with You and I know I have IDC stage 3 and have been

    blessed with good surgeons. Please check out the coverage and second

    dr if You fell ify. I found love and comfort here and still do. I keep a journal

    of all my treatments and write a grateful journal to help me stay strong.

    hello there in Australia you have come to the right place, we here know how you feel we have been there and some still goin thru, I too had idc,stage 2,0/3 nodes, L mast, chemo and rads and 5 yrs on tamoxifen, I am now a 20 yr Survivor(Praise GOD) and am here to Inspire and support others like you goin thru. Hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and all while planning my wedding. msphil

    thanks everyone. Turns out the right side is HER2 positive so 2 different forms of IDC. I posted another question elsewhere re the treatment plan. It's so scary every time I speak to a medical professional and he or she says HER2 positive-that's bad.
