Hard areas under skin and above implant
I had a skin and nipple sparing BM Feb. 2014 with immediate implants. It was a prophylactic procedure due to BRCA1 although they found DCIS stage 0 in left breast. I have some hard areas which have formed, one under left nipple and a similar one under right nipple and a small area lower part of right breast. I saw the PS a few days ago and she seems to think it is scar tissue but recommended seeing BS earlier than planned, so I moved from Aug. to later this month. Has anyone else had this happen?

I have places where my drains were that is scar tissue....BS said it should get better with time. Your PS is probably just being cautious and safe which is a GREAT thing. It's better to know for sure! Good Luck!

I have several spots where lumps/hard areas have formed. I had an ultrasound a few months ago and the radiologist said they were consistent with fat necrosis resulting from the trauma of surgery. The BS agrees, and my PS said the lumps are where the Alloderm went in. I have a follow up u/s in about a month to see if there have been any changes.

I had a PBMX skin and nipple sparing with immediate reconstruction with implants and alloderm Dec, 2013. I found a hard area under my left nipple in May, 2014. My BS checked it and felt it was scar tissue, but she sent me for an ultrasound to check it out. The radiologist came in and performed the ultrasound and he thinks it is scar tissue too. He could feel the lump but nothing appeared on the ultrasound. He said ultrasounds can't see scar tissue too well. Followed up with BS and she suggested massaging the area lightly to try to break it up. In August I will see my PS and see what he recommends. Good luck when you see you BS. -
I'm glad I found this thread. I had a nipple sparing bmx straight to implants reconstruction and I, too, have a hard knot near my left nipple. I'm in physical therapy and forgot to ask the PT about it last time I was in. I'm trying to decide if I should call the BS or the PS to have it checked.

Thank you all so much for the replies, I was beginning to think I was the only one! I will see the BS on 7/27, but I feel like they formed too soon after surgery for them to be anything except scar tissue - but it feels better to know others have experienced this.
