I went with my college BF to Looking for Mr. Goodbar with Diane Keaton, and sobbed inconsolably at the end, but that was trauma not sadness.  So I'll say City of Angels with Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan.  I still tear up when I hear "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls.  (And I'd give up forever to touch you...)
