Hi Apikle
There are two Triple Negative forums out here that are continuing threads. It may help you to go there. Just look through the pages of active topics. Sorry you find yourself here among many. You are going through a scary time and info overload on your brain right now. Once a treatment plan gets started it helps mentally to put you and your your doctor's in attack mode.
I am now almost 5 years out and had a total response to chemo with no lymph node involvement, however. There is life after your diagnosis and treatment! Hang in there!!. You will find a lot of support and good information on this site.

Dear Apikle, we are so sorry that you are dealing with TNBC especially with a young child. As jramick pointed out there are many threads with issues related to women with TNBC for you to review and to post. You also may want to search BCO's site and review some of the information on your cancer and treatment. Here is one such link chemotherapy. Please stay in contact and let us know how you are doing. Sorry you're joining the club that no one wants to be a member of! I was diagnosed triple-neg, stage 3c, all 21 nodes positive. I'm still here almost 11 years from the surgeon telling me I had cancer!! Hang in there. {hugs}

Hi Stef,
It's gr8 to see a TNBC fighter like you. Got my 1st chemo of Epirubicin and Cyclo yesterday feeling nauseatic and body ache as already explained by my Onco. Would be gr8 if u cud explain the eating and lifeStyles habits to get over this. Really inspired by you hearing that u kicked butt. Have to undergo another bi-weekly 3 x EC and then 4x Paclitaxel (Taxol) have been advised to take 4 shots of Grafeel 300mcg after every chemo to keep the CBC to the level. Please guide me Stef for anymore suggestive tips from you to get over this.
thanks & regards.

Hi apikle and feelingoverwhelmed,
Welcome to the boards and sorry you find yourselves here!
You might check out the sections on getting though chemo. Most of your issues are not going to be confined to TN sisters, and it can be helpful to talk to others who are doing it at the same time, or recently enough to be of help.
As for diet, small meals of whatever you fancy is what I would suggest. You'll be in survival mode, and you just have to tough it out. But if you have bad nausea, or especially if you are vomitting, ask your docs for something to counteract it. Most people can be helped though this. Try to keep the fluids up, again, whatever form you can, but we were told to avoid green tea! If drinking is difficult, frozen ice pops can be an option. Ginger is an excellent natural anti-nauseac, in whatever form you like best!
You'll be surprised how quickly this time passes (when you look back on it!!!) I just feel like I lost a year of my life!

hi jramick! You said you had total response to chemo. Can I ask whether you had chemo before surgery? As well, what chemo meds did you get and did you get it biweekly? How big was your lump.

Hi ...back on... Been going thru lots of tests and craps the last week... Got a port put in today for my chemo.. Sally, I am doing chemo before hand.... And it will be bi-weekly...
I did get some good news (if that is possible) my cat scan and my pet scan didn't show for any other positive or whatever for any other cancer cells.. so I am so relieved about that. I get to start my chemo treats tomorrow....
Thanks for the tips morwenna.... I will let Ya know tomorrow how my chemo goes!!
Oh, and I found me the perfect wig... Looks almost just like my hair now!!!!!

Hi Apickle and feelingoverwhelmed, just wondering how you are doing?
-
I had chemo bi-weekly....4 of them ....cytoxan and taxotere prior to lumpectomy. My lump was 2 1/2 to 3 cm in ductal area on left breast at 3 o'clock position. When the doc told me after surgery that there was no cancer and all tissue markers were clean...at first I was happy and then within seconds thoughts were rolling internally..."was I misdiagnosed with cancer and just went thru chemo? Really?"....doc laughed after seeing my expressions and said "oh the cancer WAS there...we removed the dead tissue that the chemo killed" .
I was happy, elated, relieved, in disbelief....etc etc. I also went through "survivors grief" that mine was gone and many still struggling! My questions then were WHY ME? Why did I get to be so lucky?
Good luck to you Sally. Hang in there! What stage of treatment are you in now? I apologize that I have not been here in a while...trying to send my daughter away to college...

Hi Ladies,
I'm done with my 7 chemos 4 biweekly AC and 3 biweekly Taxol one last one left to go with Taxol on the 15th Sept. Side effects hairloss, numbness in feet, body aches, nausea and vomiting was controlled by Apretero tab 1 hr before chemo and 2 days after which really helps, itching controlled with Avil25mg. Ha've to discuss with my Onco what next after last chemo.. Any test to be done or not, or would he send me over to rads which was already told me earlier. Ladies here with any suggestions or guidance as to what would be general procedure after this thing. Just waiting to take the last shot and discussing with the Onco. Girls jus hang in there it works fine. Jus have faith in yourself..

Apikle - Since you already had surgery, I would think your next step will be radiation. Your onc should be referring you to the radiation oncologist sooner than later. After getting through chemo, hopefully you'll find radiation is not bad at all. It's an inconvenience since we have to do it daily, but we do what we have to do, right?! Congratulations on just about finishing chemo! You should celebrate
