Hi there, checking in.  I seem to not come here as much these days b/c emotionally I've moved to another place, but that's not a bad thing.  Still doing my thing and will get the last quadrant of fillings out on Monday and then there will be one more tooth and then I'll be done--will be done by the time school starts, so praying this works out.  The good news is the tumor is no bigger. Sometimes it feels like it's grown but then I'll start my period and it goes right back down again.

Jodi, that's great news that your chemo is done.  Good for you and what a time you've had!  If I'd had babies my experience might have been different.

June, I'm glad you found a closer apt--that's a big load off your mind I'm sure.

Red, you have a great time.  Maybe you can post a pic or two.

So happy to see you Pipers. Glad all of this tooth stuff will soon be over - darn my brain but what kind of fillings are bad for you again? What have you been doing for alternative medicine? I have been hearing a lot about lemon juice - do you have any advice on lemon juice? I might try it.

Jodi, glad that someone will be with you and hope, most sincerely, that Lulu will take regular naps. Also hoping that time flies by for you and that you are done before you know it.

June, when do you move into your new apartment? Glad it is closer to work.

I leave for Rome tomorrow. I will try to post a few pictures. I am so looking forward to the architecture and authentic Italian cuisine!

    Talk to you in a couple weeks. {{{hugs}}}

red - have a fun trip.

Piper - I've been reading your progress and so happy for you. Pls keep us posted and I always look forward to read how ppl are doing alt tx.

Jodi - how's the rad? Hope it's a smooth sailing.

And today I just signed the lease and got the keys. The bldg manager told me I could move in any time in june for free. It's almost unheard of in NYC. I will move sometime next week. Can't wait actually. But need to arrange with the movers and both buildings.

hi girls, I'm in New Brunswick Canada camping right now and headed for the last big push to Cape Breton Island tomorrow. I love Canada!

To answer your alls question about what next, I must confess that I don't know. My doc said tumors often just spontaneously disappear with the last filling out but what if it doesn't? I'm not sure yet. If I retest and it hasn't grown any then I might try other holistic things and if it has grown, I'll probably get the surgery.  If its shrinking, I'll hang tight. Red, the fillings that are bad for you are amalgams bc they're half mercury. I had a lot of mercury in my head and some folks have a genetic abnormality that keeps them from detoxing toxic substances. I suspect I might be one of them.

June I know what you mean about stuff accumulating as its a constant battle for me. Good luck with all of it.

Jodi I saw you on FB tonight, so you hang in there. I know this is hell but I wonder if we'll look back later and be sorry it happened to us?

Red, trade you some Canada pix for some Italy ones. Lol!

    Welcome AmyLynn.

We will be in your pockets on Wednesday. I'll try to keep the others quiet so the doc doesn't hear us. Let us know what's happened and what decisions you will be faced with. We are each so different in our dx on this site that I'm pretty positive one of us will have had to deal with whatever you are faced with. (((hugs)))

hey ladies!  I'm hanging in there:). I finish rads on July 28th.  The girls and I are ready to get home.  We still have 3 weeks left in the apartment.

Are y'all doing any reconstruction surgeries this year?

    Jodi - that's fantastic!!

I am not doing any reconstruction. The anesthesia fried my brain a little and I don't want to go in and out of hospital after the MX.

And my boobs were small and now after eating clean and exercise, the boob is almost non existence. The foob I bought was pretty much the same size as my boob few months ago and now it's bigger so I felt I am a little lop sided.

No Jodi neither am I. I'm not fond of the new boob, feels like leather and is much smaller, but I'm not going thru more surgery to make it pretty.

Sorry, really can't help with that one.

Congrats though on nearly being done with rads. That's cool. You and your girls will be happy to get back home, I'm sure. ((((Hugs'n'kisses)))

Hey all, I'm still here.  It's been a wildly busy summer and I didn't get done nearly all I had to do but I'm not going to sweat it--after all I have an excuse, lol.  I got back from Canada a couple of weeks ago and it was a great trip.  Red, you live in a beautiful country!  I danced and hiked and flirted with men so it was all good.

Jodi, you must be back home now--how do you feel?  Are the girls happy to be home?  I'll bet you are.

June, I want to see your artwork--that's so cool that you can do that.  I'm a good doodler, lol.

June, you mentioned your boob shrunk--are you talking DIM and/or iodine?   While I still have my boobs, they are about half of what they used to be.  I don't think the 33 lb weight loss explains this either--when I weighed this before I wore a DD cup size, but now I'm smaller than a C! I refuse to complain though and I sort of like the difference--clothes fit better for sure.  The dental work is done and I still have the tumor but chelation is not done yet and it hasn't grown since I started this and doc said no growth is fine--if it stays the way it is and I could learn to live with it, I'll be fine. After all, it's metastasis that hurts us.  I, however, would like to see it shrink.  We do a cancer panel in 2 wks and that will give us a good idea of where we're at and that will help me make a decision about surgery.  If the numbers are good, I can keep them, but if they're headed the wrong way--surgery.  The hardest part is that most folks think I'm nuts and so I don't get the social support that I truly need so I've stopped talking about it b/c the look on their face stops me cold.  It takes too long to go into all the reasons that I'm doing it this way and I really don't want to tell everyone how I've struggled with my weak brain all these years and how I can't afford to lose any more brainpower to surgery or chemo and that if I did, life would not be worth living--for me I mean. I have reasons for this too--I react poorly to anesthesia.  Damn, I need to write a blog.  So, sorry I've been staying away so long but I stay more positive if I'm not on here too much.

Pipers, welcome back. I'm so happy things are going well for you. And there is nobody on this thread who thinks that you are taking the wrong path to health. It doesn't work for me but I sure am eating healthier because of advice you and Jodi and June have given me. I think it really helps me. Salmon twice a week now, less dairy (can't give up on cheese), less red meat, more veggies. I've also started taking calcium and vitamin D, and Omega. My buddy, who is a holistic healer says to add more vitamin C to my diet because I'm a smoker. Sorry folks, my dirty little secret is now out there. I'm cutting back but I've been smoking for 44 years now and it's really tough to quit. My DD, who is a Reiki master says that exercise will really help too, so I've joined a gym. So far, I'm only going twice a week, but I hope to step that up a bit.

Nobody here has anything but love for you Pipers. I admire the stance you are taking and wish you nothing but success and health.

piper - yes, we love you here...and so nice to hear from you and glad you had fun at your vaca

and i didn't take DIM or I3C...i am taking tamoxifen. i was taking dr Wong's herbs and stopped about a month ago. money was one issue and my integrative doc told me it counteract to tamxo. so....i decided to stop. and now i haven't gotten my period yet. when i moved, i didn't bring my bras with me. they were too big.

i still don't know what to draw but i took some pictures of the lavenders i bought...going to print some of those at work. i no longer have a printer anymore. once they're done, i'll post some photos...

red - yay for joining the gym. i was such a couch potato but now i am so into it. i do yoga everyday. but i hurt my lower back...when i was doing aerobic i hurt my ankle (the back of ankle to be precise...sigh...). that's why i switched to yoga and now my lower back hurt. still trying to figure out which pose hurt or don't hurt. you'll love it  (i meant exercise) once you get into it....i love how i feel afterwards, the sweating, the deep breathing...very refreshing after a shower. i get up at 5:30 just so i could do it before i get to work. it gives me energy. and it can help us fight the SE of tamxo....if you have any.

jodi - read your update on FB. congrats!! pls write us when you get a chance....i am so proud of you..

I meant to say, thanks for your support girls.  I do feel supported here--just not in real life so much.  I remember one night a few months ago though, I was at a dance and waltzing with one of my nurse friends and was telling her about what's going on and about the holistic thing and she listened very carefully and then she hissed, "If it were me, I'd be doing the same thing you are!" Needless to say, I wasn't expecting that.  Most of the time I have people really concerned and rather taken aback if I haven't seen them in awhile.  Others feel I haven't paid my "dues" and think I'm getting off too lightly--often those who haven't even had cancer--they don't realize I've just gone thru the equivalent of 8 root canals!  It's weird traveling down a different road but I'm used to it--I homeschooled my kids and that turned out well.  Anyway, just wanted to say that we all had our reasons for choosing what we chose and I'll wager that every one of us has made the right decision for ourselves, no matter what the outcome.

Pipers-  None of us get off too lightly!  I know some have a harder road, but  when they say "you have cancer" bam- not light!   None of us know if what we are doing is going to work.  We all hope and pray for each other.  Just like driving, there are different ways to get to the destination:)

June- great pics!!  Started tam this week- what should I expect or do to help!  Any advice;)

Red- that is a beautiful spot!!! Wish we had something like that here.  Well- without Mosquitos!

We are home and thrilled.  Hair growing, went back to work yesterday.  Life ones on-

Jodi - O you went back to work already? Pls take it easy....when I finished my surgery and went back to work, I was exhausted quickly. It was all mental tho...

To subside the SE of tam, exercise is the key. I had a lot of vivid dreams at the beginning, lasted about 2-4 weeks. Felt unrested..bc of the dreams. Did your doc recommend you exercise daily? Mine did...30 min per day and it doesn't have to be hard core, you just need to sweat a little and heart beats faster. Like fast walking helps. My MO told me the first 2-3 months set the tone of your tx....if the SE is severe it's gonna be not easy down the road....it really depends on each individuals...I take it on the morning...bc I didn't want it to affect my sleep quality. Hope that helped...let us know how it goes....

I'm in tamoxifen too Jodi. Sorry but my journey hasn't been as June's has. I have got SE's and I've been in since January. Not sure I should tell you because, o I don't know. My hands have gone to hell and the joint pain is constant. Night sweats that can last as long as an hour. Hot flashes that turn my face bright red and leave sweat pouring off me. My boss laughs every time he sees me going red. Says I'm having a solitary tropical vacation. Fatigue because of poor sleep.

On the other hand, my doc said she didn't think it would work for me because I was on HT before I got cancer. She just hasn't gotten around to changing it yet. My next appt is in Sept. I'm going to ask about switching to an AI.

Sorry to be a downer. But I guess we have to keep it real or we won't trust each other.

Hi all. I went to my OB/Gyn today and he said, of course your joints hurt. You were on hormone therapy for 3 years to pump up your estrogen. Side effect.... it greases your joints. Now I am on anti-estrogen (Tamoxifen) so no more grease. Just owies. So I called up my nurse navigator at his suggestion, I told her what was happening and she said to call my onc. I will do that tomorrow - they were closed by then.

Anyway, I'm telling you this so that you will know that I am a bit of a special case. Few people will experience some of my side effects. Take heart Jodi and June!

Hope that you guys are all okay.
