Any good idea about losing weight pls
Hi ,
My mother is stage IIIB PR - HER-2 ER +. She just done with her treatment. She want to lose weight . Any good idea about losing weight? Any protien shake gluten and soy free?

Congratulations on your mother completing treatment. Cancer treatment can definitely cause us to put on pounds since our activity level drops and some of the medication can cause weight gain.
What I use to manage my fitness and weight is a fit bit. You can get more information at www.fitbit.com. You can get the device at most WalMart and other department stores and you register the device on line. When you wear the device, it keeps track of your steps and the calories you are burning and you sync this information to the site. The site allows you to log your food, and create a weight loss plan. Weight loss is all about math...you have to expend more calories than you take in.
I also use the walk at home program on you tube (free) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndVjwkaLGDk. This program starts with a 1 mile walk that takes about 20 minutes and then you can work up to longer and more intense walks as you get fit. I do the 2 mile walk 3 times/day and not only am I able to lose weight, but I have a lot less muscle and joint aches. If you mother is ER+, she is probably on an Aromatase Inhibitor and if so, she may notice that she is stiff and sore in the morning. This program is great because it is low impact and also good cardio.
My PCP was the one who recommended the fit bit and it has been so helpful to me, that my daughter, several relatives and coworkers are now on the fit bit bandwagon and doing great! They also like the Walk at Home program to amp up their exercise because you can do it in all kinds of weather and it is free....no gym membership needed.

There is no easy way. Eating less and moving more every day as best
you can with whatever physical limits you face is the only way to lose weight.A weight loss support group may be nice if you can find one near you. It helps to have others to talk with and share ideas with as you go about meeting your goal. Maybe a nutrition class or meeting with a nutritionist could help. I love learning about different sorts of foods and ways to prepare things. I've taken some classes offered thru my gym on how to lighten up typical recipes. I find that trying new foods, new recipes and tracking the foods I eat helps me to moderate my intake. Even if you just write it down in a journal that's fine. There are apps you can get to track your intake. I use www.caloriecount.com but there are all sorts of tracking tools around.

To start, I think tracking her baseline activity and journaling food intake is the way to go. There are lots of free online trackers and apps. Once she has a sense of her activity level and how much/what types of foods she usually eats, then she can make a plan to gradually increase exercise and decrease (or modify types of foods). Without knowing where you are in the exercise/food realm, it's hard to know how to adjust. Also, I think finding a combination of weight bearing and cardio is great. Lots of research has been done on cardio and how more isn't always better. Walking is excellent for toning/alleviating aches etc., however short bursts of high intensity are great for weight loss. Google things like 7 minute workout and tabata. Not sure if she'd be ready for those just coming off treatment, but something to consider after making some basic changes. Good luck!

yes. I've started a gluten free , soy free GMO free nutrition supplement and detox. I have lost all the weight I gained plus more since eating right and using these products. Products are called Mynt.
Keep pushing forward and try to exercise @ least 5x week . Walk and lift light weights to speed metabolism .

I had a pbmx diep flap over 3 years ago. I have put off my final reconstruction in until I reach the weight where I'm happy. I'm not in a particular hurry and my husband would prefer I don't have more surgery at all.
I have done an insane amount of research and have found that low carb is the healthiest way to eat. Cancer feeds on sugar! So, I eat no sugar or grains. Basically, low carb, moderate protein, healthy fat (like butter, coconut oil, avocado, olive oil).
Not only does it reduce risk of cancer, it also reduces risk of heart disease, diabetes and dementia.
I have lost over 35 lbs and am currently at 155 lbs. with maybe 10 more to go. I'm rarely hungry and eat fantastic food. Plus I sleep better and have more energy.
