Interesting.

A friend's mother had bc and did lumpectomy/rads and chemo, I think she was 5 years out and had bc in the other breast...11 years out and died of a lung cancer dx that her onco speculated was from the initial rad treatment.

The listed side effects are one of the reasons I opted out...but with cancer, it's all a crap shoot.

My mom passed of bc. I always wondered if she might have survived if she had had radiation. She had the mastectomy as she had 2 nodes affected but as this article points out radiation could be considered in that circumstance. No one ever mentioned radiation to us. (sigh). Thanks for the article. I still keep up with this subject even after mom's passing, hoping and praying for advancements.
