Extreme Itchiness and Scared

Options

I am on my 19th round of radiation and it had been going very well until a few days ago. My breast and under the area is so itchy. There is no extreme redness or dryness. I have been using cocoa butter with vitamin e but I think I saw a post that you aren't suppose to use Vitamin E. Someone help and is this normal or did I cause problems with using the cocoa butter. I have had such a journey with my breast cancer. I couldn't tolerate the chemo and was allergic to Herceptin.

So sorry you are experiencing this. When I got itchy the nurse gave me Radiaplex gel. If you go next time ask the staff what they recommend for the itchies. You are almost 2/3 of the way there, you should be proud of how far you have come!

This sounds crazy, but it works.  Take a sock and fill it with oatmeal.  Tie the sock up, and run it under warm water as you squeeze and squish it.  Untie the sock and put the oatmeal paste on the skin where it's irritated.  The oatmeal is soothing and helps relieve itching without worrying about any harsh chemicals.  I finished my 21 rad sessions last Monday and I'm still the oatmeal girl, and will be - until the itchiness subsides.
