So...whats for dinner?

What everyone else said Bedo! Hugs.
To all thanks. I hurt during PT and I hurt otherwise. But then I kinda did any way so such is life.
Re the socks I have red, tan , yellow, blue, aqua, and maybe more. I can't remember! LOL. .I'll have to get them together to See LOL! .
-
Forgot to add Bedo.....is he's worthy of you?
Tonight I made a chorizo, hash brown, egg and cheese mixture while Sharon built a primitive electric motor out of wire scraps...for her physics teacher class.
-
I can't seem to edit my previous post..
Is he worthy of you? That's the question to ask!
-
Eric - that's the best question.
Ran errands most of yesterday so yummy shrimp salad from Costco for dinner. For those of you who haven't had it, HUGE whole shrimp, celery, green onions, dressing.
Missing Carole as she travels across the country. Also missing Laurie & Debbie.
-
Here's hoping everyone who's missing is having a great time and too busy to post.
If my knee were good this year I'd be at SUMMER FEST : ) tonight! -Bruno Mars is headlining at the Marcus tonight. It's too bad the weathers crap but it will be a great show. Rick Springfield is also playing tonight. Two weeks of amazing music. It the biggest music festival and one of the oldest..just Google it to see what you are missing. WI takes no back seat to anyone this time of year. Now if the weather would cooperate LOL. I'm ready for few food. But will probably get stuck with something from a chain... boo. LOL not that interested in Lady Gaga but Usher? I'd go. Maybe next year.

-
Minus, I'll check out that shrimp salad. Sounds delish.
Tonight was grilled citrus chicken, sauteed beets with butter and dill, grilled corn.
-
Yum, Nance!
I was supposed to go to a candidates forum a out mental health with DH tonight, but felt lousy all day and really tired after going to the gym, so begged out. After falling asleep on the couch for a long nap (never usually take naps!) I got up and felt pretty uncreative re:dinner, so poached eggs and had a banana with it. Intermittent fresh cherries (lord, I love them!) rounded things out. I am sated....in a weird way.
Also looking forward to Carole's return once she gets settled in a camping spot!
Hope all are doing okay with the bad weather...again!
-
My most favorite dinner - REAL garden tomatoes. We're just about at the end of our growing season here - way too hot. How I will miss them.
-
Hahaha, Minus....we have yet to see a home grown ripe tomato here. It seems amazing that you could be finished with your tomato growing season! Do you start up again in the Fall and get two seasons in one year?
-
In Phoenix we get two growing seasons. Each is about 3 months long, which requires fast growing tomatoes. The best tasting of the lot, I think, are the little yellow pear tomatoes.
They are not hybrids, so the seeds are worthwhile to keep and use next time around.

Hi everyone, it is so great to see Tazzy, Bedo, and Joyce posting again. I missed you and everyone here, great to see Seaside pop in real quick for our triplet BD ( Happy belated BD to you) Told Lacey Happy Birthday on FB. Hope your family problems get solved and things are ok for you.
Oh my gosh, where to start, I had to read about 30 pages to get to here, took me pretty much all day off and on. My computer had a virus, just got it back yesterday and even though I can post on FB for some reason on BCO my phone kicks me off or I lose my post. Between that and gone most the time and company I am sorry I haven't been around to check in on all of you been so busy.
Glad to see every one is doing fine and cooking up a storm. Lots of good recipes too!
Bedo- You never let me down, you make me laugh so hard every time I read your post. Can't remember what you said exactly in one of your earlier post, oh yeah something about Martha stewart isn't the boss of you, I spit out my pepsi. haha! I ditto what everyone said about the guy being worthy that is the real question here. I got a feeling that you will know weather there is chemistry or not when you first meet him, if you act silly and all flush then you have a crush and it might be worth persuing. if you yawn and can't think of anything else but going home and petting your cat (ha) then that's your clue. You mentioned on here that you had a lefty issue, did you find out what it was is everything OK? Kisses back!!
Moon, Hope your on the mend, you look pretty darn for just having surgery. wow Im amazed. Speaking of Bruno Mars, I saw him when I lived in hawaii he was only about 3 or 4 and him and his family would sing every week at the sheraton waikiki he would wear a elvis outfit and sing and shake his body it was the cutest thing ever, now to see him all grown up makes me feel so old ughh!
Joyce- So nice to see you checking in, I am so glad that Rick is staying in touch with you and DH and you all get to sit around and keep Michelles memory alive. I think of her all the time and think of you knowing how hard it was on you. (((hugs))))
Lacey- sounds like you have been very busy with dinners, parties and lots of kids to enjoy. But, I am a little worried about you being tired all of a sudden, you kind of mentioned it before in another post. Are you doing to much or maybe you need to go get a check up just to be on the safe side??
Nance, Oh boy what a pain in the arse with the propane tank, that must of been a real crazy day for you. Glad you had insurance. Loved your kitchen, the back splash and counter. The cupboards are beautiful. Oh and loved the planter DH made. so pretty.
Carole, glad your off enjoying yourself on another adventure.
Hi to Minus, Deb. LMG. Eric, Laurie, chabba, SK, Gardengumby, and the new to me newbies. and anyone else I am forgetting right now.
I was going to report on what I have been up to and tell you a few recipes but the post is so long already so will come back later with more to report.
Love to you all. Miss ya bunches!

hiall. I laughed when I read you made chicken pot pie, as I made potless chicken pie the same day.. At least that's what we call it. I made the pot pie filling and hubby made biscuits (with a little coaching). Had the filling over biscuits.
For lunch yesterday had omelets with cold salmon, pesto and Greek yoghurt. The we went fishing. Got home late, so just fried a steak, steamed some brocolette, and fried potatoes, onions and mushrooms. Added a glass of red wine and dinner was complete.
-
GG - your chicken over biscuits sounds a bit like chicken a la king - that is old school, baby! Love it!
Just got home yesterday from visiting DD - I cooked in the electric skillet and microwave, she has no stove in her little efficiency. I made Bolognese over fusilli, chili (with a beer in it), we had store bought pulled pork with coleslaw, and I made something for breakfast that turned out delish. I toasted some English muffins, drizzled some mustard, laid on a tomato slice, several thin slices of salami, then two thin slices of provolone. Microwaved it long enough that the cheese melted. The cheese slices were slightly larger than the muffin so it was completely enclosed, nice and neat. Yum! We had them for breakfast with fruit salad with yogurt dressing. Made the 6-hour drive home yesterday for an appt. with the oculo-plastic surgeon to check my eye for the suspicious spot. He is officially releasing me - doesn't feel it is cancer - so yay! This started almost a year ago and has been weighing on me, since they can't biopsy, only remove and then do pathology afterward. The procedure is taking a pie shaped wedge out of the eyelid rim and is a surgery, not an office procedure. I am so relieved I don't have to do it. I have another skin cancer on my back, so that will be handled in a few weeks, have not decided how yet - wide excision (lumpectomy) or burn and scrape. Neither sounds appealing...... Today is 6-month appt. with oncologist, tomorrow I take my friend for her 7th Taxol treatment. I want to do NOTHING this weekend! DH has been driving back and forth to the east coast of FL taking care of our elderly friend - he went last weekend unexpectedly to get him ready for admission this past Mon. to a 30-day skilled nursing/physical therapy facility because he was not doing well. I think DH wants to do NOTHING this weekend too!
-
Debbie, you are amazing when you do those long catch up reads and respond to everyone!
Tho now you have me straining my brain to remember what family problem I needed to address. Maybe I just ignored it and it evaporated?? Or maybe my current lousy short term memory is being useful. LOL! I am clueless.....but fortunately, today, not tired at all.
I think I have been zooming around too much, and coupled with fighting that virus, knocked myself out over the past two weeks. Yesterday I finally hit the wall, and catching some much needed zzzzs instead of going out last evening seems to have worked well. It is hard not to try to keep up with my old pace of life when I feel "normal" energy, and later, my body smacks me upside the head! Eric, I would love "two growing seasons", but unfortunately so would our resident woodchuck!!
Bedo, that risotto did sound wonderful. If date guy works out, you must make it for him!
-
lacey - that was the way I read that too, but then I think debbie's family issue comment was directed to seaside - the happy b-day to you was in the middle. Not wanting to speak for her, but I had to read it twice too. Seaside posted back on June 12 that she was having family issues and had been MIA.
-
Special, so happy for you that visit with DD went well and that you don't need that eye surgery. Whew! Hope you and DH get to relax and do NOTHING this weekend.

Garden, I was so impressed with your "got home late" dinner. I'd be very tempted to do oatmeal in that situation!
Being out on the water fishing sounds sooooo good. Nice to see you are enjoying your retirement! -
Thanks for the interpretation, Special.
I hope things have worked out well for the other gemini triplet, too. Life is complicated...... -
Special glad that the eye thing is good news.
Happy to hear from you Debbie. And, Bruno Mars isn't that old now so seeing him at 3 or 4 must have been just a few years ago! LOL. I bet it was vute. He is very talented.
How much anesthesia brain does it take to forget to take your pain pills before PT? Duh......
Much love to all.
-
Please pray for my daughter, or if you are Quaker, hold her in the light.
She is in an emergency room out of state and I am arranging for her to come home
-
Bedo, sending prayers, healing energy and light your way.
Special, Good to hear the eyes are well, sorry on your skin issue. You have had to deal with a lot of them. I guess one of these days I'll make it to a dermatologist...I have to reread but I know in another thread something was mentioned about moles on left arm and some connection to something.
Moon, hope you are feeling better and pt is helping.
I hope the rest of you are well, Dinner will be shrimp ....but I have no idea yet how or with what I shall serve it.
Take care,
Vivian
-
Bedo. Sending prayers your way..and to your daughter.
Eric

Bedo - thought & prayers continuing. We'll be holding you close. Check in when you can.
-
bedo - oh no! Hoping all is well and that you can get her home safely - keeping you both in my heart!
-
Bedo-my twin--((HUGS)) and prayers for your DD and you.
-
Bedo, sending lots of love and positive thoughts your way! (((Bedo)))

So I went a shoppin' tonight for more summer clothes (now that it has actually turned to summer here) at my favorite clothes store that has a special discount for senior ladies on Thursdays. I've decided that shopping at this store with their wonderful selection of colorful dresses is my new sport! DH went to a board dinner at a restaurant on Beacon Hill, "Ostra", which had a very fancy menu. He had branzino (a European sea bass), after shared apps of hamachi, prime sirloin carpaccio, grilled octopus, and beet salads. I, on the other hand, came home from shopping (successfully, I might add) and had peach yogurt with walnuts, a piece of semolina toast with peanut butter and cherry preserves, and a very mealy peach (yuk!). I really want the delicious peaches you described last year, Nance!
So I got to hear all about DH's dinner, which I actually find so obscene in price that I would probably not enjoy it! One of the dresses I bought tonight is a black layered sheath, which fit perfectly, and I decided it will be my new little black dress. I just suggested to DH that since I have no specific place to wear it, we should go out for a fancy dinner date one of these days....but not at the pricey place he dined at tonight! I'm sure that we can find a more reasonable spot that can accomodate our fancy clothes!

More importantly, am thinking about your DD's situation, bedo, and hope she is home by now, or well on her way.....
-
Bedo - sweet sister holding you and your daughter close in prayer. Please let us know how she is.
Have been totally uninspired in cooking. The last real thing I cooked was the stroganoff a few nights ago. Spent yest. in Ft. Worth but sat for an hour in parking lot waiting for severe flooding storm to rain itself out b4 I drove home. At least 3rd day for flooding in area, but lakes are going up - some of them. Wettest June in 5 years. Unfortunately the lake that supplies most of our water and the one supplying Plano, McKinney and those N. suburbs has gotten little. The airport, Ft. Worth and Arlington had severe flooding. I had MO appt. yest in the same area that had flooded the day b4. Several intersections near the "hospital district" were underwater.
Did go to TJs yesterday. They had lovely little grape tomatoes and excellent black figs. Little hesitant about the figs since they still had mod. amt of green on them but they were good. $3.98/lb. Not too bad. I tried to go to Sprouts but already spent a bunch at TJs. Besides by then the darkness was descending and I decided to hightail it at least to the other side of town b4 the deluge hit. Read today that the area where I was shopping ended up with only pittance of rain.
Monica - so glad you're coming along so well from your surgery.
Lacey - are you due for company this weekend - DS and his GF?
-
Debbie -- so good to hear from you! Can't believe you managed to comment on all that. I have trouble remembering and commenting on the three posts before mine!
SK - wow, good news on the eye surgery, bad news on the skin cancer. You've had quite a time of that. Hope this is the last one.
Lacey - ooo la la on the little black dress! Definitely needs to step out. I think your groundhog has come to my house. The little bugger ate half my cucumbers and has been nibbling on everything else. I spotted him this evening and chased him out of the garden. He promptly turned tail and headed into the back yard where he proceeded to eat my gloriosa daisies (the only one of it's kind, I might add.) I managed to get a shot off with the bb gun and stung his butt pretty good. Doubt that it made much of an impression. Just what we need, more critters. SIGH! I picked my first pepper mostly because I was afraid he'd take a bite of it before I got it. He ate half a jalapeno the other day. Hope he enjoyed that lol!
Luv, hope you have gotten some rain, but no floods. We've had 6+ inches in the last week.
Tonight was grilled ribeye, hashbrown casserole and Caesar salad. I made a pasta primavera the other day with some tiny squashes and peas from the garden. Been a while since I made homemade pasta noodles. The new baking center worked just fine for the small amount I made just for supper. Larger amounts need a more spread out area for all the drying racks.
Bedo, hope your DD's situation is improving. Holding her in the light.
