I had a double mastectomy two weeks ago. Today I had my first temporary implants filling. That was around 11:30am and I emptied my drains before going.  (I have one on each side and usually have 30-40ml in a 24 hour period)  I just re-emptied at 5:30 and had 60ml one my left side (10 on my right).

Is this normal?  Is there a chance it's the saline spilling out?

Please advise. Thank you.

I had a mastectomy with tram flap surgery (4/30/14).  I had 4 drains:  2 upper left side (side where surgery was) and 2 below abdomen area.  I had the drains for a long time, filling with liquid anywhere from 40 ml about 3x a day...this amount got less and less.  I do not know of salene.  I finally just had my last drain taken out a few weeks ago, and I've noticed I have drainage coming into my underwear... going to talk to my Dr. about this soon.  They told me in order to take the drains out, there must be about 30 mil in each drain, in a 24-hr period.  Sounds like what you are experiencing is normal.  I hope this helps!!

Amy, were you a lot more active today than you had been?  An increase in activity could account for the increase in fluid output on the one side.  I had one drain for two weeks and the other drain for three weeks.  The fluid output in the first drain consistently decreased, but the second one was up and down until it finally got low enough to have it removed.

It appears the port was missed. My boob looks exactly the same as before filling which I imagine is a good thing (I'm assuming / hoping the implant wasn't punctured).

I only felt the filling going in on my right side and it is now noticeably larger than the left.
