the waiting game, again

Options

So after 3 and a half years, I am in the midst of waiting to see if the lump I found in my right breast is indeed a recurrence.  I had a bilateral mastectomy in February 2011, after being diagnosed with a great deal of high-grade DCIS in my right breast..  The doctors/radiologists think it might be fat necrosis, but from various discussions, I think they're a little more concerned than that, even though they say they're not.  I had a fine needle aspiration into the tiny space between my skin and my implant on Friday, and waiting for the results Tuesday or Wednesday. Trying to stay in the moment, which is difficult.  Anyone else on here had similar experiences?

Ugh, the waiting - it is awful!!! I recently went through a little scare regarding an incidental MRI finding. In discussing it with the radiologist, she reminded me that most of these findings are benign. As well as lumps and bumps that might form as scar tissue develops after surgery... I know that nothing I can say will make you feel better, but I will be praying that the time goes quickly and that you get only good news! Good luck!

I understand about the MRI thing.  I've been through that one, too.  It all sucks, lol.  But I do appreciate your thoughts and prayers.  Trying to stay positive, but I have my moments :)

voicewriter-hoping that the results confirm that it is just a fat necrosis.  I will keep you in my prayers today.  It would be great if you got the results today and could move on from this waiting and wondering.  I have been in your shoes twice before as I recurred  after a lumpectomy and then again after a bilateral mastectomy.   I am now NED and doing great for over a year after my last diagnosis.

BabyRuth, thank you for your kind words.  Yes, the waiting is so difficult.  My mind is going all over the place.  So sorry you have been here twice, but glad you are fine now!

    Hi Voicewriter,

I private messaged you just now.  But yes, I have had the same experience.  As you know, the same month and year as you for the mastectomy.  I just had surgery to remove the tumor last week. Hang in there.  I understand.
