Have you tried magnesium supplements? I recently changed from individual calcium and zinc to a cal-mag-zinc combo. I also started taking a daily multivitamin, which also has some magnesium. One day I noticed I had been sleeping better, and also my achy/creaky neck and knee joints had improved. After doing some research, I found that magnesium is supposed to help with sleep and joints and also has a role in the body's temperature control. Sounds like the holy grail for tamoxifen users!

Another thing that I think has helped me sleep better is no computer/electronic devices two hours before bed. The light from the screens is supposedly a strong signal to the brain to stay awake and not produce melatonin naturally. Regarding melatonin supplements, my doctor said that sometimes taking less works better. I think those that are taking 20mg are doing so on the recommendation of naturopaths for preventing recurrence, not for improving sleep.

My MO has me take 10 mg Tamoxifen 2x per day he finds some women have less side effects with that dosage schedule. I had insomnia at first but now sleep pretty well. I go through times I need a lot of sleep. I found just to go with it and sleep more for awhile (10-12 hours/day) and I get back to normal. During those times, I get to work but don't do much else. I am not tired during the day, I just fall asleep when I sit down at home and oversleep my alarm by an hour or two.
