Enerva == Cute cocoon!  Should be absolutely darling with a real human (grandchild?).  Love it.

OK ladies,  I've been up to my eyeballs trying to finish up the 50 lap quilts I've made for the sick kids camp.  I was going 90mph on my sewing machine, when lymphedema showed up.  I have 10 quilts in the very final stage...squaring up and sewing the binding.  Both those things take more arm use than I dare to do.  Too much stress on both arms.  I'm so disappointed with my body.  The very most happy activity I have, now seems to be taken from me.  My LPT has been working with me to reduce the swelling, but that so far has been less than successful. Having a pity party today.  Thanks for listening.  Hope all you craftsy ladies are do well and enjoying the beginning of summer.  Jan

Jan, that SUCKS. I get very limited, too. Have you done MLND yourself every day? I was taught to do my own and have mine under control pretty much. I get my DH to do my back as I have truncal LE. I hear you on your body disappointing you! I asked for a new one for Christmas, but Santa didn't deliver this year! Hugs to you....

I forgot to post a reply to Jan, whose LE popped up while trying to complete a bunch of charity/comfort quilts.

One thing we do when there are bunches and bunches of quilts to finish for various groups is to use bright, happy fabrics and very simple patterns - like strip quilts - and just envelope them. They go MUCH faster than trying to make and sew on bindings. (We just do very basic diagonal or in-the-ditch quilting.)

The recipients are so grateful to get them, they never notice how simple they are. SO much less work for us!

Blessings - Simple is the way I go.  Strip quilts with older boy themes work up so nicely.  I just bit off too much and feel some pressure (from myself) to get these to their destination.   Tops are all made, 3 to be basted, quilted and bound.  Oh my, I see the end, but have to go slowly.  DH is helping as best he can.  I'll have to get dgd to help get some pics on BCO.

My 6yo dgd asked me to start making her first-day-of-school dress.  She went online to show me just what she wants!  Well, she gave me enough time.  She'd wear a princess dress every day if her mommie would let her.

Enerva - Those caps are just too cute!  No babies in my life, or I'd be begging for one.  What a fun creative outlet for you.  Much more portable than my quilts.

Garden - A bolt of silk!  What great fun to play and dye it.  

Barbe - Yes, I do all those exercises and massage daily.  I guess it helps, just not sure since I'm pretty puffy all the time.  I wear compression sleeves and gloves.  What a pain!  I've ordered a new compression T shirt from wearease.  It has short sleeves and goes down to lower belly, or hips.  I'm hoping it will be more tolerable than the LE garments I have collected recently.

Wren - that's exactly it! One thing that makes enveloping easy is fusible batting. 

You just put all the layers together (making sure the correct sides are facing each other) then sew a seam all the way around, leaving enough of an opening at the bottom to stick your hand in and pull the whole thing inside out.

It also helps to trim the corner edges first, to make them sharp.

Saves a LOT of time!

Wren, just how bad does the air quality get in your area that you can't even have a home fire????? I can see not allowing a garden leaf pile fire, but seriously???

Most cities in Canada can't have leaf fires either. But I've never heard a ban on inside fireplace fires. Too bad! That's when you need them most - to dry out the air.
