Recommendation for breast surgeon in Seattle
Hi,
I'm undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer and the will be undergoing mastectomy with lymph node removal in a month or so. Would like to know if anyone has any recommendations on surgeons in Seattle especially in SCCA.

Donna, Welcome to the BCO community. While you are waiting for some resources, please know that you have joined a caring and knowledgeable group. You may consider using the search button on the blue menu bar and doing a search with Seattle as the key word. It may reveal some others who are in that area. You may want to search our main site for tips on questions to ask once the appointment is made - here is a link for starters Questions about Mastectomy. Good Luck with your search and keep us posted. Hi--I had a lumpectomy and it was at Swedish, but based on my experience I would recommend Dr. Shannon Tierney. Best of luck to you.

Hi Donna!
I live on the east side and go to SCCA over at Evergreen in Kirkland. I had a left mastectomy with lymph node removal and port install all in one surgery by Dr. Marion Johnson. I am VERY happy with her work and she came HIGHLY recommended by her peers, my oncologist, my radiation doc (who is a 2nd generation radiation doc with 30+ years experience) and anyone else who I came across. Whenever someone found out she was my surgeon they would reply how great she is and my radiation doc even sends his family members to her. I don't think you can get any better of a recommendation than that.
Good luck to you and if you ever want to chat, just send me a pm!

Well, I have been lurking since my breast cancer journey began several months ago. Because I live in Seattle and have strong feelings about the topic, I felt compelled finally join. I am being treated at SCCA here in downtown Seattle and could not be more pleased. You don't get to pick your doctor. I had several recommendations for a surgeon and ended up getting someone else completely different. What I love about their approach is how it's really a team atmosphere. You can tell they talk to each other too. I feel very taken care of there. If you are in Seattle and your insurance covers SCCA, I would highly recommend you seek care at that center. I am happy to respond to any questions!

Thank you so much for the responses. I live Seattle downtown and had my second opinion at SCCA. I was impressed by the fact that all of the treatment (except surgery which will be at UW) can be done in the same place. Since I'm doing my chemo in a different hospital, I don't know much about the doctors there though I talked to them during my visit. Was looking for people who have been treated in SCCA.
