    Hi Paul,

    I'm so sorry to hear that you're not getting answers and the pain is worse. I wish I knew how to guide you, but since I am not familiar with the NHS and how it operates, I don't know the next steps. Perhaps asking for a prescription-strength pain medicine would be prudent? There are ladies on here far more educated about Vitamin D than I am, but did your physician start you on D2 or D3? It's my understanding, that at least in the U.S., the D2 is the prescription one, but also the less effective. I could be wrong about this, though. I do know that deficient Vitamin D levels can cause bone and muscle pain, so perhaps that is the root of the bone problems you are experiencing. Have you thought about trying a forum with more members in the UK so that they can give you advice on navigating breast cancer tests through the NHS? I wish I could help more, but I'm sending you good wishes and support.

    the tablets ive been prescribed are 4 tablets of colecalciferol 800UI (20 micrograms of d3) per day. Ive been taking them for almost a month and they are doing absolutely nothing. Sadly the only thing ive found that takes away the pain has been on a night out with lots of alcohol. it numbed the pain and felt great (for those few hours) but i dont want to rely on alcohol for pain relief. I am scheptical about these tablets curing the pain if im honest but who knows. 

    It seems a bone of contension (no pun intended) amongst doctors whether vitamin d deficiency causes bone pain and whether increasing the levels in your body can cure it. My worry is why the heck are my levels so low, i get plenty of sun and eat my fair share of fish so why it is my body not converting it. 

    All i know is when i see the breast clinic this time, i want a full test on the lump. Manogram, ultrasound and if any doubts, an mri or biopsy. When the specialist said last time that he was leaving the appointment open and come back if it changes or gets bigger, that should have been a red flag to tell me they havent done a full test or they would have been sure what it was and not said that. I know they will give me a hard time if i start asking so many questions but i need to know for sure, i pay all my taxes and expect a thorough investigation.

    Paul,

    Push, push, PUSH for the manogram!!! Seriously, get those scans and now. I was diagnosed at stage iv. You do not want to be me! Also, although I'm a woman, my dad had male breast cancer, and there was very little understanding of mbc in the 1990's. More and more men are stepping out of the shadows now... it's not just a woman's disease, and the doctors should PAY ATTENTION when a man shows symptoms.

    Please let us know the results of your scan. I hope it brings you good news, and much needed relief.
