Lump found

I have atypical hyperplasia and have had a lumpectomy as well as two core biopsies in the past 2 years. I cannot take Tamoxafin as I have a genetic mutation which can cause blood clotting.

I am currently scheduled for my 6 month mammogram July 10th. I felt a lump this morning in the shower in the breast I've had issues in?

I'm wondering if it could be scar tissue but my lumpectomy was a year and a half ago? I'm trying not to get upset but you all know how that goes!!!!

Any thoughts?

    Hi Brejim,

The lump could be anything, including a cyst or scar tissue.  Years before I was diagnosed, I had very cystic breasts.  They were full of lumps that could be felt and moved.  Sometimes they even hurt a bit.

Even now after 2 biopsies and a lumpectomy, I still find lumps ... and it does cause me to be alarmed.  My surgeon and PCP have assured me the lumps and bumps are scar tissue.

It's a shame you have to wait until July 10th for the mammogram.  Waiting is the worst part of this entire situation.  Any chance you can get that mammogram moved up?  It might relieve some of your fears.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Bren

Hi Brejim ... so good to hear you've got wonderful doctors there in Boston.  One of my closest friends is in a clinical trial at the hospital there.  She's Stage IV and doing well on the trial.

I'm sure your doctors are on top of everything.  The worst part now is waiting for the mammogram.

    hugs,

    Bren
