Not starting chemo within 30 days
I was unaware of this study...

I don't see the oncologist until Tuesday. Wednesday I will be post op day 28. I doubt I will start chemo within the 30 day recommendation.
Now I'm worried as I am TN and stage 2.

Islandmama, I didn't start chemo until around 48 days after my surgery. I got C Diff about two weeks after surgery and they wanted me to recover completely from that before starting chemo. So after reading that article I am a bit worried too, but what's done is done. My Oncologist didn't seem concerned but still, I am. I can't go back in time though, so I'm just hoping and praying for the best!!

Well maybe I can get my first dose peripheral this week! Who knows...I'm going to ask for it.

Wow, the article/study is concerning. I didn't start chemo until about 8 weeks after mx, I developed psuedomonas and was being treated with IV antibiotics. The infection had to clear before I could start chemo and I ended up having surgery to remove TE's as well. I knew my delayed chemo was not ideal.....tomorrow will be my last treatment actually. -
islandmama - how about printing this study and giving it to your onc on Tuesday? Im in Ontario Canada and they were able to start my neoadjuvant very quickly (a week and a half after diagnosis). Starting chemo is not as difficult to do as setting up surgery that requires OR times which are so hard to get. As long as you can see your MO they can probably start you quicker than you think.

I do find it interesting that it states that the outcomes are better for starting within 30 days compared to those started >61 days but I wonder what the difference is between the 31-60 day mark. It might be negligible.
