After Double Mastectomy

Hello!

I am scheduled for a double mastectomy in a couple of weeks but won't be doing reconstruction until several months afterward.

I am wondering what on earth I am going to look like. I just want to prepare myself mentally so when I wake up I don't have a complete melt down.

I have seen several online but they all have expanders in and I won't have that.

They are doing a nipple/skin sparing procedure. 

Any places I could find some pics online?

    I had a double mastectomy with delayed recon. It is as shock  to see yourself for the fist time.  Your breast literally look wrinkly like they've been popped like a ballon.  I kept reminded my self this was only temporary and that helped keep my sanity. I just had my exchange surgery yesterday and they look a little different than I thought they would but I think that's due to the swelling.  Keep you head up and remember this is only temporary. Once you finally get expanders in and filled, you will start to fill out your clothes again and feel better.  Expanders aren't fun but I love that they gave me the appearance of having breast when I wore clothes. The only plus side to have them. I guess when you don't have breast for a few months you really appreciate the expanders for giving you the appearance of having breast again.  I wish you all the best.
