Hello,

I am seeing a physiotherapist specialist who is treating my Lymphedema in my right arm and hand which flared up two months ago. Last week I noticed a small white lump just underneath the skin on the back of my hand near one of my knuckles. My physiotherapist said it was a cyst, that there's nothing to worry about, it will disappear.  This evening I've just found another one along the edge of my thumb.  My hand is a bit swollen and painful but not as bad as it was.  I was wondering if others had experienced this symptom and if in fact they do just "disappear"!

Thanks, C.

Welcome if you are a newcomer. Stick with us and you will be LE savvy and we can learn from you to.

I had two tiny whitehead size cysts between the web of my finger. I figure it was because I had a glove that was too tight there and rubbed especially  when I pumped my fist when walking. I had it for about two years but then I got a custom glove and they disappeared. I wonder if that is your case. It may have left a bit of scar tissue around the area but it feels fine and all is well.

My LEist wasn't too worried about it.

Another girl her has given her experience in the past but I can't remember who.

Hello there, thanks for writing.  So you had cysts, probably owing to your gloves you think.  I am not wearing a glove or anything like that.

I'll see if anyone else replies.  My physio has asked me to go swimming regularly which I am doing - my shoulder and armpit area are still tender but it helps with getting mobility back I guess.

What do you mean when you say you "pump your fist when walking"? Could you describe what you do?
