nancy, sending prayers for your mom and her complete recovery from surgery.
Jean, it sounds like your mammo did not set off any alarms. That is good. I am fortunate to get a preliminary report in writing before i leave the center buti have to wait for it. Yours sounds good so far. Will you get the final report?
How nice that hou got to go on a cruise.
My MO is leaving my cancer center and I have no idea how to find another. i guess I will try the default doc that shows up in her place. I did not like her any way.
I am waiting for sun but I have to work all day and night so it doesn't matter much.
Carole that seems like a lot of rain lately. I hope you get some golf in soon. I have yet to play this spring due to work and travel and guests.
Jackie how is DH doing?
-
Nancy & Di - Prayers sent for both of you.

Once you accept and rejoice in your authenticity, you begin to see things as YOU are. You begin to see the authentic SELF in the soul made visible. Godspeed on your journey to wholeness.

I'm taking a break between housework and doing some advance cooking for tonight's dinner. The housework came after a couple of hours of yard work. Aren't I the energetic one?! LOL! It takes me 3, sometimes 4 days, to get around to cleaning most of this house which isn't large by any means. If I got myself in gear, I could get it all done in one day and be finished with it.
Or, I could hire someone to come in every couple of weeks and clean. Then I'd have to put up with someone coming to my house to clean. Hmm. Will probably keep cleaning every now and then and keep grumbling! LOL. I really like having the house clean. And I would be giving somebody a job who probably needs the income. Any opinions? Maybe we'll take a vote.
DH went to play golf this afternoon despite the wet conditions. My shoes got soaking wet as I walked around in our yard, and it drains well. I should take a picture of the daylily bed. It is really pretty this year with all the rain. The crepe myrtles are putting out buds but we don't get to see them in bloom during late June and early July.
Well, time to go peel an eggplant and put together a veggie lasagna for dinner. The sauce will be a white sauce (béchamel) instead of a tomato sauce. I've had enough red sauce for a while after making the big meatballs and red sauce for dh's birthday. We still have some in the refrigerator but it won't go to waste.
Hope everyone's day is going well. We haven't heard from Cami or Chevy lately.
-
Yes, Carole, you are energetic. Your energy seems to be very positive and full of a fun outlook. Eggplant lasagna in a béchamel sauce sounds yummy. Do you use recipes or are you one if those people whose brains work like a cookbook?
-
Carol - You sounds like a fabulous cook! I vote for getting someone to clean every two weeks:-), unless you are one of those women who finds housework relaxing. That's what I do, and I find I do very little housecleaning inbetween. I'm in love with my house on the days it's cleaned. My husband's the chef in our house & if he makes a big messy meal on the day it's cleaned, I'm fanatical about cleaning it up. For a full day, it has to remain spotless!
-
My wonderful DH gave up and brought in a housekeeper! Today is her second time and if we can hold our budget together then she can come every 2 weeks. She's not great, doesn't leave that freshly cleaned house smell yet. Can't be too picky though. We still have a huge home that we don't need so it helps to get the rooms freshened. Lots of dust bunnies live here!
-
Joan, yes, they said I will get a copy of the report. Depends on how slow the pidgeons at the mail service are! Sometimes I see the radiologist before I leave, not this time.
Gloomy and rainy upstate. DH has a stress test, 7AM tomorrow. So I'll be hanging out at the cardiologists early. Not getting much done with this weather, Need to weed again, and again and again! Can't do a lot at a time, as it bothers my back. The area looks like a jungle right now.
-
I also had someone come in every 2weeks to clean the house in Fl. When I started traveling, my daughter chose to keep her coming, and to avoid messing up the kitchen on the day she comes, Tracy does a crockpot meal that night. She used to do a really good job, but now no one is there when she comes and she tends to "forget" the fans, sliding glass doors, etc. She is a very nice person, but we are thinking of finding someone new.
-
Oh how I'd love a maid.....but we are too messy here and have too many pets. Anne, if you really like the gal that cleans in Fla. why not leave her a list.....so she doesn't forget.
Carole -- if you have money that can be ear-marked for cleaning.....why not give yourself a break. After all, there are still a lot of things you'll have to see too --- meals, laundry, shopping, making out bills, cleaning and polishing shoes--taking the clothes to the dry cleaners. It is not like you won't have plenty to do still......and if you are like most people I know.....many of them when I was their cleaning lady....cleaned before I got there....so I wouldn't think they were slobs. I begged them at times to leave it for me....but they just couldn't allow me to see their ?? bad habits ??? that I doubt were really allll that bad.
Blessings

I have a friend from work come in every other week. She has a custodial job and her pay is quite low. I am helping her out. DH does not approve; but i can pay from my job earnings. She leaves the house gleaming and smelling like faint lavender. I love walking in...but there are things that do not get done (under the appliances, some webs behind small furniture pieces, and the sliding door tracks never get done)...
What I do not like about it is that it creates stress for me when she is coming because i feel I have to clear the decks of all clutter and straighten up every room. last week it took me 2 hours. But when she finished it looked great.
Jean let us know when you get that report. If you are having rain, does that mean I will have more rain? Our yard grew up so much after this week's rain. I did not get the weeding done before my DS came on Sunday.
-
During the years I had mammograms, I never got the results before I left the facility. The tech would check to make sure the pictures were clear. Sometime she would have to do a position over. The results were sent to my gyn dr. and she notified me.
My new used golf irons were delivered yesterday and they are beautiful! Looks like I won't have a chance to hit with them before we leave. Now the weather forecast is for rain tomorrow morning. Rain will cancel out my Fri. golf. Boo-Hoo.
This morning I have more yard work to complete. A memorial service to attend at 12:00. And my mother's hair apptment this afternoon.
I use recipes for new dishes but do a lot of cooking just from instinct or know-how. I find cooking very creative and usually don't mind doing it. DH is a foodie like me and easy to cook for. I seldom have a real flop but every now and then it happens. I subscribe to Cooking Light and enjoy reading it and trying a few of its recipes. I also have a large cookbook collection. When I buy a new cookbook, I read it like a novel! And get ideas to incorporate. Anybody else like to cook? There's a great thread called What's For Dinner?
Still no word from Cammi. Cammi, I'm worried about you.

Ah, and hmmmm, can't say that I totally like to cook but Dh and I are big eaters. I also have far too many cookbooks -- again. I had somewhere over 4,000 and it was either rent a library or do something.....so they went to auction. Didn't get all that much for them, but it was too many to donate I thought --- better for me to get the postage back I paid for getting them to my house.
I do really enjoy trying easy recipes with things you likely already have in your kitchen. Time has always been something of an issue for me.
Joan.....yes. You are like my former clients who felt the need to clean/straighten up before I arrived. There were things I never did as a paid housekeeper/cleaning lady as at the time the pay was just all-right ( $10.00 an hr. back in those days ) and so I had to work for more people....sometimes two or three on the same day. You just couldn't do all the things it took to keep a house going when you had multiple houses to do. Then of course, your own.....along with all the things you have to do at home.
I think if you can hire someone.......and you love having ( so to speak ) your whole house done and clean at the same time ( one of my customers always adored that ) and have faint good aromas wafting -- then hopefully, the pleasure is worth the pain of a little extra straightening on your part.
Joan, you have a kind heart and much empathy for your cleaning person. Good Karma for you.
Blessings

Blessings and love to you.

Good Morning,
I stayed home today, have been on the run since we got home last week.
Nancy, prayers for your mother. My mother turned 89 last Sat. She had colon cancer 5 years ago, refused any treatment and so far is ok, she has a shadow on her liver and refuses a biopsy, she has no other signs of liver cancer.
It is hot in West Texas, was 104 yesterday, but of course we do not have the humidity other places have.
DGD is going to Las Cruces, NM on Sat. to stay with her brother and his family for a week and then I will meet them on the 21st and DGS will come to stay with us until after July 4th.
Everyone have a good day
-
North TX is getting rain again. We are still on water restrictions due to drought but so thankful for any rain we get.
-
Hey Teacher, I wonder if it is coming back? I love the rain but it has cleared up here.
-
Mema, we got about 12 drops. For all the warning about severe storms, we didn't get enough to keep the dog in. She won't go out in the rain.

I read posts from Cami and Chevy on the Insomniac Forum, just happened to be sleepless tonight! -
Deep within us all there is an amazing inner sanctuary of the soul, a
holy place, a Divine Center, a speaking Voice. . . . Life from the Center is a
life of unhurried peace and power. It is
simple. It is serene. It is amazing. It is radiant.
T.R. Kelly -
Glad to hear Cami and Chevy are giving each other a hard time on another forum. They must be ok.
Get ready for some whining. My golf was rained out AGAIN today! This was my last opportunity to play at my home club before we leave. Maybe I'll get to the driving range on Tues. to try out my new irons, but I doubt it. There is much to do before departing for 3 months.
I transferred some clothes out to the 5th wheel today. So did dh. I have a list going for things not to forget to take and not to forget to do prior to leaving.
A call from the dermatologist's office yesterday informed me that the little sore spot on my neck was a basal cell. So I have to go back to have the spot cut out. She had scraped it and sent tissue off to the lab. Now I'll have an incision to take care of.
The rain has gone and the sun is shining. All the greenery outside is very green and thriving. Dh will need to mow the lawn one more time on Mon. or Tues. before he turns the job over to the high school boy next door. This boy is the last of 4 brothers who have taken their turns earning money during the summers.
Greeting to all.

Hi you guys! About 2 hours ago, I wrote this long post to you all, but it was on another thread! I don't know how I even DID it! So I was "talking" to someone that is "new" and "older" and I thought she was on HERE!
Oh well.... I'll probably never find that thread again! Anyway, I hope she is alright, for her upcoming surgery. I'll have to go check my recent posts so I can find her again!
I didn't THINK any of the gals sounded familiar, but I just thought I missed a lot of new ones! NOW I'm hallucinating? Ha, ha!
I'll be back in the morning! Love you gals! xoxoxoxo
-
Good to see a post from you, Chevy.
Carole, sorry that you will have the basal cell to care for as you travel. Also, sorry that you did not get to try out your new clubs yet. I hope you will be in touch during your 3 months away.
Well, since DH is under the weather, I will be cooking tonight. Since I have to (or should) read recipes closely, I better skedaddle into the kitchen.

Today is our 44th anniversary. My wonderful husband gave me beautiful flowers and a card that made me go "Ahhhhhhhhhhh." He's a keeper I think. (
) Tonight he took me to dinner at an upscale Riverwalk restaurant. My steak was SO good and SO tender. The chef did something special with our dessert and it came out to us with champagne for two as well. Great day.

-
Sandra, that is sooo sweet! I was looking really hard at the kissing picture! Not for that view silly girl, but the view behind you. I always try to figure out where people are in SA on the riverwalk so I can walk down memory lane. Happy Anniversary!
-
Congragulations Sandra! Pictures are soooo sweet! Yes, he IS a keeper... Ha! Such beautiful scenery!
I know what I did wrong, but don't know why! I SOMEhow posted on a thread called "Age and Breast Cancer." Now these women probably think WTH? Because I was posting to YOU gals I thought... I mean especially one new gal coming up for surgery, and was really afraid....
Oh well... I had better pay attention..... At least it was one of the posts where I sounded reasonably intelligent....

Carole, I am fine, but I don't know about Cammi! She is either "busy" on her phone "job" or out causing mayhem! I know she has these issues going on with her plumbing, but I'm trying to talk her out of them..... and maybe find something ELSE to go wrong!
She is just such a hand-full! I mean I TRY and get her straightened out with all her tests and goings-on, but her problems just keep cropping up... and I prefer not to take any of them seriously!
Morning Teacher, Mema & Sally! Hey Mema, are you NEW? Or is it that I am just older? And not paying attention!
Mommarch... everything going okay?
I had better post this, because something isn't working right here... Couldn't be ME..... could it? Shut up Cammisleepingallday!
