Did you have any symptoms prior to being diagnosed?

none. no symptoms.

I am new here, I found a lump in my left breast yesterday and it's been a little sore. I went to my Obgyn today and they also felt the lump too. I go for an ultra sound and mammo on Friday. I am a little nervous I want to know what this is and get it out of me. I had thyroid cancer over 30 yrs ago and my mother who is a healthy 80 yr old, had breast cancer 6 yrs ago. I believe in prayer to the only wise God and asking for His guidance, while I am on this path. The very best to you.
-
Another vote for feeling great and invincible until my annual ob/gyn appointment caught the lump on exam. The only "symptom" I learned later was that I had been having an itchy nipple for several months prior to that, which I had just accounted for me being weird.
-
I didn't have any symptoms at all. I was doing great ... the diagnosis took me by complete surprise.

I was feeling great too. I recovered from a tailbone injury from a year ago. Only 2 months before BC, I told friends that I finally felt 100% healthy. I was eating right, exercise and rest well. What else could I do to avoid it? That's what scare me the most. I was taking very good care of myself and I still got cancer?
I blame it on the year of dragon which is the year I was born. Chinese believe the year of your animal is the most traitorous year for you. Sure enough, I was hit with this.
-
Absolutely no symptoms here, either. Found on routine mammogram -- right in the middle of my DDD breasts --- neither my surgeon nor my oncologist could feel it. Did skip my mammo the previous year because I was between primary care docs at the time.
-
I had intermittent breast pain over the the course of two days. Reached into my shirt during one of the pains and felt a lump. Was due for my annual mammogram, but had just had a breast exam by my doctor a month before. Have not had the surgery yet, and am still having the pains.
-
cybermab hope that ur pains are resolved shortly. May I ask how your diagnosis was determined prior to surgery? I wasn't told anything about we +/- tumour size etc until the pathology report was completed which was after surgery
Have a nice day!!
-
Another one with no symptoms, caught when micro-calcs appeared on my routine annual mammogram.
-
no symptoms at all. In fact I had had 15 years of clean mammos. I have dense breast and marked this tumor can not be seen. Found less then a year after a clean mammo and annual poke and grope. That was why I waited until after the holidays. Ate organic no processed food for years, slim snd worked out regularly. It hit me like a ton of bricks.
Through 5/6 chemos right now. Wouldn't wish chemo and the side effects on my worse enemy. Surgery scheduled and hoping for no node involvement. So ready for this whole thing to be over.
-
I didn't have symptoms either except that looking back now I dropped a lot of weight. I had cut out sugar so I thought that was it. I never felt a lump. I was diligent too about mammograms. Now I know since my sister and I both have it we carried the gene because our Mom had it. She died 10 years ago but not from BC. Diane

I had random pains, lumpiness in the breast and some discharge. I have a young toddler and thought maybe my milk had not completely dried up yet. It felt like I was getting plugged ducts and so I would "work them out" and got some relief. I assumed it was just fibrous tissue, because it seemed worse at different times of the month and when I consumed caffeine.
-
Appreciate everyone sharing! I have started chemo. Round2 is a week from this wed. I find it funny that at times since starting treatment I continue to feel great. I have been walking approx 3-5 miles a day and hope that SEs remain as they have been however suspect that this will not be the case
Wish all good health!!!!

I just had surgery last Wednesday, but the diagnosis info I posted was based on the pathology that was done on the tissue from the diagnostic biopsy. It could change, of course, once the path report is done on the tumor and the SNB. Optimistically hoping for clear margins and nodes. Will post again once I have more news. And yes, the pains went away once the tumor was removed.
Thanks for your response/questions, footballnut!

cybermab hoping for clear margins and nodes. (((((Hugs)))))

Both found by mammogram. No symptoms.
-
i had very itchy nipple and then felt the lump besides of that, i felt great.
-
No symptoms, no lumps that could be felt either by me or doctors - it was found by routine mammogram. For the past four years I have been screened every six months because I had dense, fibrocystic breasts. I had multiple cyst aspirations and biopsies that were all negative until this year.
-
I had odd things go on, 1 of course I found a lump on the side of my breast. But, before that, I went to the eye doctor and my eyesight had changed drastically. He said it was like someone else's eyes. For some reason, and I couldn't find it now if I tried, I thought I read somewhere that that can happen with cancer. Also, I was very tired. I would have a hard time staying awake on the drive home from work for at least a month before I found that lump. Of course, I'm no physician, and those could just be coincidences, or me being a hypochondraic (sp?).
-
No symptoms, found on routine screening, stereotactic biopsy results said benign (Complex Selerosing Lesion). Excisional biopsy results found DCIS within that lesion.:(
-
I appreciate your all sharing ur amazing stories! When I think back to finding my lump my nipple was itchy at times too however I seem to recall having that sensation off and on - more off - for years so not sure if related. Somehow for me I don't think so
-
I was diagnosed with annual mammogram. No symptoms. I feel fine. I pray you are healing. -
Yes, I've had bloody nipple discharge from the onset up to my diagnosis. Mammos found microcalifications and biopsy confirmed Intraductal Paps the 1st year, still had discharge and new microcalifications and most recent biopsy confirmed ADH and the lumpectomy found DCIS and IDC. No lumps.
Have been tired a lot more lately, noticed I was sweating a lot more and a slight scent from it (I've never had to use deodorant in the past). Shooting pains here and there and of course even more so after the biopsies. -
Ooops, I forgot to post. Clear margins and nodes, Yippeee! And my oncotype dx score was 3....just got that today. Assuming that means no chemo.
Thanks for the well wishes, football nut. Obviously, they worked!

way to go cybermab!!!!!!!

laurie2025, I was so tired before I was diagnosed that I knew something was wrong with me. My surgeon and MO both were dismissive, saying that you don't have symptoms with breast cancer as early stage as mine, but the radiation oncologist said that anything that puts your immune system on alert, like cancer, could cause symptoms. I have a very sensitive system in general, and it's probably a good thing because if I hadn't had pain in my breast, I would never have found the lump as early as I did.

noticed that the sun on my skin felt like acid! I just thought the sun was getting stronger-more caustic. My personal scent became a bit garlicy without eating more of it.
I felt really great!
Even better now thoguh and just spent the afternoon at the beach.sun felt great!
-
Found calcifications leading to DCIS during routine mammo. No lump. In hindsight remember having zingers "quick shooting pains" in my left breast year or so before diagnosis.
-
Hi Chiclet92, feel just like you did - can't wrap my mind around that I am sitting in an Oncologist's office! Feel great but this never showed up on a mam or ultrasound - it just popped out over night. What has your experience been with Chemo? My biggest fear! Thanks, VeraAnn
