oh to be 50 again!
-
Lbrewer - you are so right. The area continues to grow. While we welcome our visitors and new residents, we often wish for a rest period so we can adjust.
-
A beautiful morning at Isle of Palms beach sitting in chair listening to waves and taking in salt air in the breeze! Very quiet on beach so far.
Taking a break to pop in to see Dr Kline for consult at 1:00, then coming back to beach after to go in for swim. Will let you know what's up for next surgery.
😊🐬🌴🌊🐚
Would like to do reunion weekend then have surgery following.
💗

reunion weekend?
-
Reunion weekend for sure!!! When are you thinking, Pink? October?
Lbrewer, I think Pink is talking about a gathering of us BCO CHS ladies in CHS again in the fall (early enough so Pink can go swimming again). There is a BCO reunion/gathering that is held yearly I think in Las Vegas. I'd rather go back to CHS and see the Drs again and just hang out and see the area without having to have a surgery!!! Dr K's office said to let them know when so they could do something and so did Dr. Baron's! Now to pick a date and make plans!
That is if this is the reunion Pink is talking about ! LOL
Hugs
Catie
-
Catie - I think it is the Kline/Craigie BCO/Charleston patients that Pink is hoping for a reunion with in the fall. Such a beautiful time in Charleston.
-
Catie,
That's the reunion I hope we can do! I didn't know the docs were in on it. How nice!
I will know in a few more weeks when I will schedule my next (and last!) surgery.
-
I'll be back on November. Would be fun to meet enjoy Pink!
-
Ashira,
Hope to meet you, too!
Will your November surgery be your stage 2 or 3?
-
if all goes according to plan, it will be stage 3. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 21.
-
I am in on the CHS reunion!
-
Pinkheart...so happy to hear you are having a real Charleston vacation! Can anyone recommend a place for me to stay the night before surgery? I want it as close to the hospital as possible and I will be alone so no need for a lot of room. And can someone tell me again...what will I have to wear after surgery? Surgical bra?
-
Panda,
I would stay at Comfort Suites Isle of Palms. It is five minutes to East Cooper Medical Center. Google it so you see how close. Make sure you call the local number to book it and ask for medical rate. It used to be $63, but the rate may increase because they just renovated.
You will be provided with surgical bras and soft comfy camis that have pockets for the drains.
Are you having DIEP or SGAP?
I'm so happy for you to finally be making it to Charleston for your reconstruction!
-
Thanks,Pinkheart,I just called and the rate is still $63...so I will book it and maybe my friend and I will stay there the night before we fly out.I was going to have us stay some place a little fancy, but she is telling me to not spend my money on that.So hopefully I will feel up to a nice dinner and can treat her.I will be having SGAP,can't believe it is really going to happen this time....knock on wood!!
-
Panda,
That's awesome the rate is $63! I may stay a few nights there next time for surgery.
-
Another day of blue skies and sunshine at the breezy beach at Sullivans Island! Enjoying dinner dockside at Shem Creek. I feel blessed!
My phone is running out of battery so later when I get on my laptop I will post the next steps Dr Kline and I talked about for an hour yesterday.
-
has anyone had the surgical scarring tattooed over? I saw on facecrafters site that she does that. My scars from my diep are still there and now new ones on my boobs
-
lbrewer - before you have the scars tattooed, may I suggest that you try pulse dyed laser. I did that with my original MX scars before DIEP and it flattened them a lot and the color blended in with my skin. That is what I am planning to do after I complete all phases of this recon.
-
thanks Marty. The scars are flat but red. I will look into it. I feel like a shark bit me! At my age not sure it matters tho!
-
yes, lbrewer, I so understand. My breast lines are darkest, but there are lumps in the ab. Time will help, but laser more.
-
Marty,
Where did you go for laser treatment on scars? How many sessions and was it pricey? Sorry so many questions but thanks so much for posting this.
-
I just had another wonderful time here in CHS. I went to Wine Stroll at Middleton Place plantation followed by excellent dinner there. Met lots of people (wine does that lol), and a P&C reporter took our picture for paper tomorrow. This would be a great day/night out for reunion. Highbeams, you and hubby would enjoy this, too, as a presurgery date.
I also kayaked Folly Creek this morning for three hours enjoying perfect day with dolphins and great guide. Time to land in bed!
-
Sounds heavenly Pink. Especially the kayaking. I would love the opportunity to return with wounds all healed up and in good enough health to get out on the water!
-
Pink - My former dermatologist's office did the scar treatments. They are pretty common among laser practitioners. I went every 3 - 4 weeks, about 4 times. Ran about $175 a visit. Since it is considered cosmetic, insurance doesn't cover. My PS suggested that I give all scars two years to achieve their "final" color and flatness. Some docs only say it takes a year. I definitely can say that a year would be a minimum to really give you an idea of what needs work. Some of my incision lines are flat and totally faded. Others are raised and red. I have lived with scars on my breasts for so very many years that only the cleavage area really bothers me. Most of the rest I can cover easily. The ones that wrap under my arms and around the back will always prevent me from wearing a racer-back top. I can live with that.
Ashira - kayaking in November before your last might be fun. I'd suggest July, but it will probably be too dang hot.
-
Hey, all you Charleston Alums-- I am in my countdown mode for my June 24, Stage 1 SGAP with Dr. Kline. Any last minute advice from you ladies who are further down the road? I feel like an hourglass with the sand running out. Anything you ladies did the last week or last day? Thanks. P.S. Pink, hope you are still having a week of fun and relaxation. You deserve it!!!!!!!
-
highbeams, Just stay as healthy as you can, eat clean, get lots of protein, and do as many squats as you can everyday. All this will help in your recovery. I also listened to a surgery meditation cd and it helped me think only positive thoughts and helped with the fear of failure. Oh, and make sure you are pooping
It will be here soon, wishing you well!
-
Highbeams - remember to get that pedicure and mani. But do it at least 2 days before surgery (shave your legs and underarms, too). By giving yourself a couple of days, you allow time for the little microscopic nicks to heal. Oh, take some time to enjoy Chucktowne!
-
since you end up sleeping on your back I bought myself down pillows. Always loved the ones from the hotel and they cradle your head so well!
-
High Beams, you'll do great. Remember that you're truly in expert hands. Chocolate Hemp protein shakes were my go to post surgery-- that and filet mignon, which they serve on request at the hospital. I highly recommend it!
Marty, I never considered Kayaking in November. What an intriguing thought. I'm still not suspend to lift my arms above shoulder level though :-(. Hopefully after stage 2 I'll be given the green light to raise my hands in the air, carry the milk jug and put away my dishes. Kayaking? Almost too glorious to consider
-
highbeams - wishing you well. My BM and DIEP w/ craigie is in Mid July. Will be following any posts you offer along your journey. Best to you!!!!
