I agree with April I would ask for a biospy. We all hope it's nothing but IBC spreads fast and that could mean catch it sooner than later.

....There's a lump under my nipple :(...I have quite large breasts so I have to pull the breast up to see it in the mirror and when I do the skin at the 6:00 position just outside the areola bunches around the lump and the skin over it goes very white I can grab it between my fingers, only hurts when I squeeze it. Swollen lymph node? Would this have showed on the US or could it have developed completely since after the US was done? I feel so lost :(

Carly - I agree with others who say you should push for a biopsy.  Not all doctors recognize IBC as it is not as common as other types of BC and it is aggressive, so the earliest diagnosis is best.  Of course, you may not have IBC, but in this case it is important to rule it out through a biopsy.  If you are having difficulty convincing your doctor to send you for a biopsy (wait and see is not a good approach in this case), try calling the Canadian Cancer Society, describing your symptoms, and asking for their advice. They will most likely say that a biopsy is recommended.  Quote this back to your doctor.  I did this when my doctor was not taking any action to book my radiation treatments.  When I quoted to them that the Cancer Society said I was close to being outside the recommended time guidelines, they booked me immediately.

Keep pushing until you get a biopsy.  If you have to go to a cancer centre in another area of the province. Wishing you the best of luck and keeping fingers crossed that it is a rash.  ((Hugs)).

    Carly,

Thinking of you.  Ditto everyone before me. Get a biopsy.  If your GP can't do it, get a referral to a breast surgeon as soon as possible.  Don't take no for an answer -

    Keep us psoted

I would call the office back and tell the MOA that you need the doctor to call you TODAY when she has a minute because you can't keep stressing about it. You can still see her Monday but she can call to tell you her impression.

called back during a complete anxiety attack bawling my eyes out pointing out that it will often not show on US and I now have a lump and changes to the nipple and the MOA got me a spot with another doctor who works with my GP at 1:00. Wish me luck.

Doc did a biopsy in office today will have results Monday the 16th, also gave me Ativan for the anxiety I am having. Thank you all so much for giving me the knowledge I needed to stand up for myself and push for the biopsy. As I expected I was shown pictures of very advanced examples and told mine didn't look like that. Only after quoting my research and the advice and opinions I have gotten here did she agree to the biopsy. I can't tell you all how much your support means to me! I will of course update with the pathology results as soon as I know.

    ((Hugs)) to all of you!

    Carly

Not for over a week for path. report?  What type of biopsy?  I did not have skin issues when my biopsies were done in the afternoon but had the path. report the next morning at 8.

That's great news Carly, I'm not sure why it takes so long for the results but hopefully you will get them sooner.

I didn't watch (I'm a little squeamish) but I believe she did it with a scalpel there is a bandage over it so I can't tell how big it is yet but she said she only needed one stitch. Monday the 16th is the latest she expects the results she said obviously if something serious shows up I will hear back much sooner. From the placement of the bandage I think she took the sample from the darkest part of the discolouration but again I won't know until tomorrow when the bandage comes off.

when she said it didn't look like IBC did she say what it did look like?

she said maybe it's fungal, I said I've been using a fungal cream for a week and it's no different except now I have swollen lumps under my nipple and my areola is getting bigger everyday. she said she could feel pea sized lumps under the rash and the one larger one under my nipple but they didn't show suspicious in the US, I said maybe they weren't there then.. I had to flat out say that I was not satisfied with the ultrasound being the only test done because of my research and that the pictures she was showing me were extremely advanced cases of IBC and that it never looks the same for everyone and that every person I have talked to and every article I have read said there must be a biopsy to rule out for sure.

Carly,  What's happening?  I hope that you have good news and the rash is just a fungus or low thyroid.  Best wishes.

Calling Carly! Where are you chica? Praying you did not get any bad news and are just out there living your life and not thinking about this cancer board. If you need us, we are here. Hope you stop back and let us know how you fared on the biopsy.

April, I agree about Carly! When people are off the boards like she is now I like to tink all is good, they have good news, and need a break from anything cancer related. Looking or her update.

Most who decide they are IBC because they have a rash when they find out they are not IBC never come back.  A few will be courteous enough to come back to us know but definately not all.

Perhaps some are embarrassed because they were so frightened.  Of course we all understand that kind of fear but it must sometimes be difficult to come back to this site and say "Never mind."  Let's hope that she received the best possible news.
