Lump in Neck above Collarbone - 7 Yr. Stage III Survivor

Options

I was at my new primary's office yesterday and he asked me how long I have had 'that lump in my neck'. What lump? By your collarbone. Felt for it. Oh, shit.

Going for Chest and neck CAT next week.

Will be 7 years next month that I am a stage III survivor. This is on same side. Roundish,  hard, about size of golf ball.

Never got on my feet after the first cancer and just found a PT job. Have had pain from sternum over to under arm about 6 months. Shoulder acting up (has tendonitis) recently.

Anyone had this? Another cancer?

I have no experience to share. I saw that no one has responded and wanted you to know I feel for you.  Hopefully someone with some experience will be by soon.  Hugs for you.  I'll be here for you to see how you're doing.

I can't offer any input or guidance but wanted you to know I was thinking of you. Praying this is a benign lump . Someone with experience with this I'm sure will be along soon to share their thoughts.

Well, to be honest, it isn't a good sign. Supraclavicular node involvement would make you regional recurrence if it is cancer. You haven't had any infections, dental stuff? Good that you are getting follow-up and wishing you the best!! (((hugs))))

Assuming it isn't some form of lymphadema or cording which are possible, else something is inflaming the lymph nodes.  Could be an infection of some sort, but golf ball sized is pretty big.

The CT scan will, with luck, tell for sure.  Cross my fingers for you!

Nancy - bless your heart we are all pulling and praying for you. Just so you know I had a lump on my neck too years ago - pre-BC. I didn't notice mine either...a neighbor did. I went to my GP first and I remember him saying it wasn't stationary so that was a good sign. Long story short it turned out to be fatty tissue. Had surgery to remove it and it was sent to the lab but the surgeon pretty much told me on the front end he thought it was fatty tissue. Still not confirmed until the lab sent back the results. Yours could be the same thing. Keep us posted.

I was just about done with my update and my computer went into updating and lost it.

CT scan found two more deep in my chest wall. They measured my lump at .7 x .6 cm. That's too small to feel. Wonder if it was a typo. Said it wasn't suspicious. Recommended repeat scan in 6 months.

I called the onc that has seen me post tx about having it biopsied. He said no. I do not trust doctors. Long story. I was thinking about giving it 3 mos.

What have others in the same boat done?

ok...for what it is worth...my neck lymph nodes really swell for just about anything. I had a scalp infection...and it was walnut sized. I really got scared.

I was wondering how you are making out with the lump in your neck.  I also have one above my collarbone about the size of a golf ball.  I had a ultrasound and now I am going for a biopsy on Wednesday.  It must be a more invasive biopsy then I had on my breast because I can not eat or drink after midnight Tuesday and they said to plan on being in the hospital for 5 and a half hours.  I have not reached my 2 year cancer free date yet and I am scared to death.

    Hi bluepalace,

    Just found this thread.  I just celebrated 4 yrs cancerversary on 7/28/14.  I have a flat lump between my collar bone. Discovered this on around Feb this year. My onc looked and touched it.  I also told him that my neck felt thick.  I went for an ultra sound, they didn't find anything.  Then at the end of June, I was at the ER because I swallowed a fish bone, pretty scary, mentioned my lump to the ER doc.  Had a CT with contrast, they didn't see anything.  ER doc told me that some people have it surgically removed, but will grow back in a year or so.  This lump is benign.  Sorry, I couldn't remember the medical term he gave me.  How's yours doing lately?  Please keep us posted.  {{{{{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}}}}
