This study shows that, for any patient with positive nodes, there are very substantial benefits for radiotherapy after Mx in terms of survivorship and reduced recurrence risk.

If you have positive nodes but your onc has not recommended you for radiotherapy, may be worth having a further discussion with them and mention this paper.

Those of you who are having radiotherapy may also be interested in reading the paper to gain a better understanding of the benefits.

is there a distinction between intramammary and axillary nodes? I had a positive mammary but clear axillary. Since I had bmx, surgeon and onc say no rads. While I would like to skip rads, I want to do everything I should to reduce chance of recurrence.

Thanks for this. With 2 or 3 positive nodes, I was told I was on the borderline for whether I should do rads or not. My surgeon convinced me I should. I've often regretted taking her advice, so it's nice to see this study, and read in real numbers that the rads may have given me better odds.
