Diagnosed with stage4 IBC-Now pregnant
I was diagnosed with stage 4 IBC October 2011, with mets to my liver, L1, and chest wall. I endured 12 rounds of TCH, double radical mastectomy,30 days of radiation+ Bolis. I recently had a recurrence to my lungs Oct 2013. I endured 10 rounds of radiation. I had been in remission for 1 year before the recurrence.I am a former school administrator and mother of 1 bonus mom of 4. After all that I have endured and the losses i felt. God blessed me with someone to love me and battle with me forever. I married Oct of 2013! I am now pregnant and have been informed it is not in my best interest to continue on. I would like to know has anyone endured anything similiar???
Hurt and tired of cancer....

ToLive32, first, congrats on being married and happy. Not many can claim that. I don't share the same situation and can't answer on that front, but it is an extreme decision, each path you choose brings different set of consequences. We can't predict future, but I would venture to say get all the facts you need, get second opinion, then let your heart guide you. I wish you peace with your choice, sending you hugs.

ToLive32,
Oh so much to take in. It is wonderful you have the support and much family, and of course your BCO sisters. You may have already done this - but I would get probably 2 opinions on what difficulties carrying to term could create for you and what difficulties it may create for the baby. And then you decide with your partner. This is an incredible personal and difficult decision - you are the only two who should be involved. Maybe talk to a counselor to help you think thru your decision - an impartial 3rd person may help.
And know whatever your decision - you have much support here.
Be well

I am going to give you the same advice that I give myself. Pray about it.
I have Stage 4 IBC. I am currently "cancer free" according to the last scan. I was initially against traditional allopathic remedies. I wanted to be treated naturally. I began to pray. I wanted confirmation that natural therapies would work. For some time, I received no answer. Then, one day, I was eating lunch, and thinking about things, when this very positive feeling came regarding traditional therapies. I was surprised. I had thought natural could solve anything. that night, I knelt again and asked if I had been told correctly, and again I received a warm, peaceful feeling. So, I went through strong chemo, a lumpectomy, and a right mastectomy.
Now, I am "cancer-free," and taking Tamoxifen, which is giving me side effects. I am starting to rebel against traditional remedies. I need a new answer. And unlike yours, it doesn't involve a life besides my own, but like yours, it could be a mortal decision. I am simply telling you that I am going to study things out, decide on an action, and then pray about it. I believe that God will direct me aright.
I believe that we are each very individual. You need to make the decision which is right for you. I believe that a way can be found.

Honey, I am so very sorry about your diagnosis. It is so hard. I feel for you and almost in tears right now. I sure hope everything does work out for you. Keep coming here for support from our ladies. When I was diagnosed with IDC in 2006, I lived on here. Ha. The ladies are great.

It all depends what "in your best interests" mean. Maybe hope is in your best interests as well. How do you feel about the pregnancy and the future? What are the possible risks and benefits? It IS a very personal decision based on how you FEEL more than your diagnosis. I don't know what I'd do in your circumstances. Really, I don't. But for sure, any decision you make will be in YOUR best interests however you feel them to be. Wishing you peace and sending big cyber hugs! (((((((HUGS)))))

I was also diagnosed with ibc while pregnant. My MO and my maternal-fetal-medicine specialist devised a plan that allowed me to continue treatment during my pregnancy. My son was born in oct 2010 perfectly healthy. I would get lots and lots of info and have all your options on the table before you make any decisions! Most certainly consult with a mat fetal med specialist. Mine had dealt with moms who had all sorts of medical issues. His knowledge and experience were invaluable! Sending gentle hugs to you...you can PM me if you'd like to talk more
