Hi Ladies!  Just wondering if any of you that had your surgery in Charleston have United Health One?  I looked up the Drs., and Dr. Kline seems to be in network and I'm just wondering if there were any glitches when using this insurance.  All information is greatly appreciated!

I have united health. Don't know if exactly the same but Dr Klines office was great at getting me all the information. I have switched insurance twice since I have been seeing him and no issues.   The hospital was a little slow to let me know exactly what my charge would be. I probably should have just called them. But they were very willing to take payments.

Thanks lbrewer.  Are you saying that the hospital is not in network?  Is that why you had to pay?

    Tamiani,

East Cooper Hospital is in network.  I am making payments to EC to cover my deductible/out of pocket. I have $1,700 out of pocket which landed on EC. This year it all fell on my hospital at home so I paying zero from here on out to end of year for any medical expenses.

I would ask Gail to confirm the imaging is in network too. I have never had any probs with my insurance being accepted in Charleston with Dr. Kline.

Wishing you all the very best!!!

    All ~

I am so excited because I am going to Charleston on a REAL vacation!!!

I will be there June 6-13. Beach, plantations, food, wine w/ sunsets (kayaking-LOL), and Dorothy Benton Frank speaking event and book signing for her latest book. I've read all of them twice!

No way can I go to CHS without seeing Dr. Kline so I have an appointment on June 9 to see what's up next. It will be soo nice not to be going home with drains or black n blue!

the hospital was in network as was all the other services. It's just most insurance has a deductible and I was responsible for a portion of the charges till I met my out of pocket limit. Depends on the insurance plan. Last year I had no deductible and hospital was 150 per day. Not exactly sure why I changed....probably a dumb decision!

    Cascader,

Very moving.  I can't wait for that last step of art to heal me. Honestly, I think Dr. Kline is an artist as well. :) Thanks so much for posting!

I am scheduled for stage 1 reconstruction with Dr. Kline on June 24.  Reading all the positive comments in this thread keeps reassuring me that I am doing the right thing this time.  (Previously, had to have tissue expanders removed due to infection--a nightmare that ended up being harder than the chemo and rads).  Thanks to all the ladies who are willing to share their experiences.  This is my "Humpty Dumpty Year".  I'm going to be put back together and restored!!!!!!

Cascader, so very good to see!  Does make all the difference in the world to have that "drive by"!

Pink, happy dance for your vaca in CHS!  What a different feeling that will be!

The ink Vinnie uses is supposed to last a lifetime per the handout he sent home with me.  I think the permanent make up ink is different, but you could call his studio and talk to Richie and ask.  I'm so pleased with the team I had, Dr Kline and Craigie for the recon, Vinnie for the nips, and last but not least Dr Baron for the bmx!

Wishing the best for HighBeams, Ashira, and of course Pinkheart and her vacation in CHS.  One side effect of this whole thing is I have a deep fondness now for Charleston, it's not just a "place" anymore but somewhere I too want to go back to like Pink and just enjoy!

    Hugs

    Catie

I think the "permanent makeup" ink is different too. I asked another lady,I know one the board who does the permanent makeup and she said it lasts about five years. More if no sun. So I guess boobs would be longer!  She actually told me Vinnie used permanent ink as opposed to the makeup ink.  I think the makeup has a wider range of colors but not sure I need red and blue!

    lbrewer,

Are you still dark black n blue?  Even after the bruising colir faded, I still was in pain to the touch for another month. No pain meds needed for latter part though.

    Highbeams,

You may enjoy the Wine Stroll at Middleton Plantation. It's on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 pm, and tickets are $20. The restaurant on site is supposed to be very good, too. Wish I could meet you!

    MartyJ,

Have you ever attended the Spoleto Festival Finale at Middleton?  After the DBF speaking & book signing on Sunday, my friend wants to head straight to that afterwards. I'm not a crowds person, and wondered if you have been to this before. I may need a vacation after my vacation!

Yes, Pink, I have done the Finale many times.  It is always wonderful to be outside on a beautiful evening listening to music.  Yes, it is crowded.  Lines in, lines out.  Portapotty.  Here is a link to the description.  This year it is much less high brow than in the past (i.e., no symphony).  I would do it in a minute as I love the music, but there are supposed to be scattered thunderstorms from Thursday on.  It is just too wet and mucky to be enjoyable.  Also, you need to bring (and carry) your own chair, etc.  Sorry to be a downer as I know you are looking forward to the vacay.

almost all of the color is back to normal except part of the main donor cheek.  The holes where he inserted the lipo thing are a little sore but not much. Very grateful!

Pink, have a wonderful vacation!  I wish that I was there to meet you, but won't be returning until the end of the month.

Lbrewer, how are you doing?  Pain subsided, I hope?

Things here at home are finally returning to normal. My daughter has softened considerably over the last week, which is a great relief....and I just turned 50 Not used to that yet.

    Ashira,

Happy Bday!  I just celebrated the double nickel so I'm used to it by now. :)

Glad to hear your DD is opening up.

Looking forward to vacation and even seeing Dr K to see what's happening next on the OR table.

    Marty,

Rain or shine, I am going to pass on the Spoleto finale. Too long of day and the crowds.... I will be up early to go to Mass on Sullivans and walk and then book lecture in afternoon.  Do you ever go to Freshlands?

Pink - Freshlands?  Do you mean Freshfields?  That is out by Kiawah and Seabrook.  Really lovely little shopping center that grew up out of a tomato field.  Now it looks like it has been here for ever!

it amazes me to see how much has changed since we lived in Summerville in the late 70's.  You should have seen the wild dogwoods on Dorchester rd!
