Moving Prosthesis
My prosthesis is secure within my mastectomy bra, but sometimes the bra cup does not stay in place on my chest. It might move toward the center or up, etc. I have been fitted, so the bra itself fits well. I am fairly active. Does anyone else have this problem and what to do? Thanks!Log in to post a reply
(I'm posting this again because I think I messed up the first posting.)

I am VERY active outdoor woman and have never had that problem. Don't know your size but I am, depending on the bra, either a 32 or 34 and/or A or B. Perhaps you might want to try a bit 'snugger' fit.

Hi Dmorgan,I am assuming you are a Uni, just the one prosthesis. I occasionally have that issue when I wear a Silicone Prosthesis. I am a bigger size than kicks (38D) , but I think she's right about size being what causes this movement, the larger the prosthesis, the more weight in it. I find it doesn't happen when I wear a light weighted foam form in a sports bra, or sports crop top.
I have started wearing these leisure forms more often because I find them more comfortable than my Silicone Prosthesis. Another way to ensure no shifting when you are active is the Contact type Prothesis which adheres to your chest and you wear a normal bra with it. I have one which is the Amoena Contact. I don't wear it all that often, but when I wear something that it works with, I really like it. It can also be worn with a cover that is supplied with it, to cover the permanent sticky back, inside a Mx pocketed bra.
Another suggestion, would be to make sure the back and the straps are properly adjusted to make the closest fit that is still comfortable, before you do something really active.
Maybe even try one of the sports bras that are available with pockets for the modesty pads. I have opened up the pockets on some of those a little further to take the silicone prosthesis, and it works pretty well.

Mine shift all over the place, so I make them straight again with my hands. I think in my own case, I cannot wear anything tight because it makes my LE worse, so I wear an xl pocketed cami but I am probably a medium if it were snug...so the slots for the breasts are probably too big for me, but I don't seem to have another choice. My mastectomy sites are extremely sensitive.

Kicks, when I was fitted and asked about my problem, the lady sold me a much tighter fit with a very wide elastic band around the bottom of the bra (to help with my problem). I think I wore it once...way too uncomfortable!!! (and I'm a size 34 too)
Ariom, yes, I'm a single mx.
Crystalp, you made me laugh by your solving the problem with your hands...literally. I know exactly what you're talking about. How many times I have grabbed and moved around or gone up under my blouse and pulled down when no one was looking..... Not fun though!!
