Help please..just diagnosed with TNBC
Hi, I'm 35.
Just got a call from my surgeon. I've been calling his office daily waiting on my pathology!
I had a lumpectomy 8 days ago with a SNB.
My tumour was 4.7cm and completely excised. I had 1/6 nodes with micro invasion. Stage IIb. And it is triple negative.
Help! I am in shock. I know I need chemo and rads but what else do I need to know...

Breath first. I am triple negative and was unable to do chemo because of complications after the first dose. Even with no treatment I am feeling 'cured'. I don't worry that much now and the chemo was just in November.
It is impossible not to worry in the beginning so you have to practice breathing and then just take a step at a time. It is a scary place to be for sure. I hope you have lots of support.
Keep talking helps too I found. Come here often and ask questions.
Edited to include 'ativan'. I had ativan and clonazepam on hand 'just in case'. I didn't need it often but some days it really did help.

Completely understand your feeling of shock. I felt the same way, was convinced I was going to die. That was almost 5 years ago. I was treated with Lx, SNB, ALND, chemo and rads and have been healthy ever since. It is scary, but know that TN generally responds very well to chemo. Once you have more information and get going on your treatment you will feel loads better! (By the way, my stats aren't too different from yours: I had 2 tumours 2.5 cm and 1.5 cm and micromets in a lymph node.)
Try to take one step at a time, and feel free to introduce yourself on the Calling all TNs thread... we are a great bunch of women (and a couple of men too). Here are 2 links where there is good information on TN: http://www.tnbcfoundation.org/ and http://www.tnbcfoundation.org/
Keep us posted.

I guess I am going to lose my hair too

I know what you mean by shock! I finished 12 Taxol sessions and have my last AC next week. But everyone reacts differently to chemo. I had shoulder length hair and kept it until the 15th week of treatment. Too bad I spent all that money on wigs! Buzz cut it, and I'm actually am having fun going bald with make up and big earrings! In the beginning I felt like the waiting was the worst part. I had my chemo before surgery and In a couple weeks I will meet with my surgeon to pursue the next step. You will get through this!!! A bit of good news is that the TNBC responds very well to chemo. Good energy coming your way!

loosing your hair isn't too bad! Mine has grown in much healthier, straighter. (Yahoo) and I love the colour! I'm not going to be a slave to hair dying any longer and I have chemo to thank for that!
