Trip to see Vinnie

Cascader,
Yes to Vinnie having a West Coast location! Followed by the Mid-West! LOL
Keep me posted on the fading and how the touch up fares. I have butt skin boobs, too. Did he mention if implant recons were easier to 3D tatoo since just breast skin?
-
Pink, I have no idea about that but I wouldn't think it would make a difference. I will retouch, someday, but no plans in the near future. Will wait till I find myself back east again...although I wouldn't mind an excursion to find the best lobsta roll. Lol. It's all about the food
-
I posted yesterday but it didn't get on for some reason but it didn't make it? Had my cupcakes frosted yesterday and what a very pleasant and rewarding experience! I did have my son accompany me and it was no problem at all. Very good to have reached the finish line and now DONE! I'm wearing the t shirt today to let the tattoos breath and can't help peeking every now and then just to look at them! Pure artistry!!!
I asked for the darkest color in the "fair" tones just in case they fade - Cascader if there is a CHS reunion next fall, would be a great time to come this way again?
Hugs

So happy for you Catie! Yes, I couldn't think of a better reason , a CHS reunion with a stop in BWI. Perfect. And yes, I did send final pics to Dr K.
-
Cascader - Southwest Airlines could make that happen for you!
-
Cindy, I'm taking a chance on insurance because I haven't met my deductible this year, but even if not covered SO WORTH BOTH THE WAIT TIME AND THE $$$$$$!
Best wishes
Catie

Would someone mind pointing me to a post, or sending me a PM with Vinnie's email address? I went to a website and left a message but haven't heard and it's been over a month.
Thank you!
-
Laurie you need to call anyway. They are much better with that. The number is on vinniemyers.com. Richie is his assistant.
-
I FINALLY got the courage to call.
On the schedule for October...almost exactly 2 years post bmx.
-
Dulcigirl I did mine 1 year after my nipple surgery and 3 years post bmx.
-
I called NOLA yesterday and was told they're booked solid through the end of the year. I was advised to call back this summer to schedule for next year. Too bad because I'm at my out of pocket max for this year, but it will be well worth the money and the wait.
-
UCFmom - you could see Vinnie in Maryland. If you want to be done before the end of the year. He gives you forms to submit. Just a thought.
-
UCFMom: I am in the exact same position and called a few weeks ago hoping to get it done before the end of the year. I was under the impression that if the tattoos were not done at a medical facility then they would not be covered by insurance. I have United Healthcare and could go to Maryland if needed. Has anyone been successful getting insurance coverage in Maryland?
-
I went to Maryland and they give you a very concise form to submit to your insurance carrier with instructions to submit a copy instead if the original so you can resubmit it if needed.
I didn't meet my deductible this year so not going to submit I it. The last I heard was a pretty long wait - but I'd call and ask if you can get it done before the end of the year!
The Maryland office was terrific. No problems going there at all.

Thank You Catie2013!
-
I have United Healthcare as well. I could go to Maryland, but thought it would be much more fun to go to New Orleans and make it a celebration trip. Has anyone with UHC been able to get reimbursed? If so, it might be worth thinking about going to MD instead.
-
I called MD yesterday she said they have some openings before the end of year but they prefer you wait 5 months from your last surgery..... My new girls are 3.5 weeks old. I decided to have nipple recon too so my trip to see Vinnie will be next year. The lady at Little Vinnies said to be sure to make an appointment in NOLA as soon as they have his schedule. He is only there for 1 week each month so he fills up fast! Good luck Ladies!!
-
MereMere, did she say when NOLA will have his schedule? Brittany just told me to call back this summer. My last surgery (to remove my right nipple because margins were positive) was April 18 so I could get a tattoo as early as September.
-
no she said just to call sometime this summer so I am planning on calling them often to check!
-
Did you see the NYTimes article (and video) about Vinnie in today?
So amazing!
-
Talked to Britney in NOLA she said it would be the end on June when she gets his 2014 schedule! So Excited!!! Here is the number 504-899-2800
-
EXCITED! I go next week to NOLA for my tattoos!
To those who have had this done.....how exactly does it work? Do you pick out a size you want? Do you get to see how they may look before they are permanent? What about the color of them...do you choose that? -
I'm so excited because I just scheduled mine too! Going to MD on October 27 with my husband. Was hoping for NOLA (a little closer to Colorado and haven't ever been there before) but don't want to wait until 2015. Just so ready for the finishing touch. Good luck to all those with upcoming appointments. I will be sure to share my experience when I'm all done. Just having my appointment scheduled is making me feel like a kid on Christmas morning lol.
See you in 4-1/2 months, Vinnie!! I have an incredible plastic surgeon here in CO that is looking for a great 3D tattoo artist to work with. Maybe you should consider coming west for a couple days here and there. Let me know if you want his information.

KaseyAnne... You will have the opportunity to talk with Vinnie about what you want. I told him I wasn't a fan of huge areolas and I didn't want them dark. He made them perfectly.
And I love the article!!!
-
Not sure whether someone has already posted this (haven't read all the posts), but here is video of Vinnie.
-
does vining only do tats for the breast reconstruction center when he is in NOLA or does he take other patients as well? Wondering if I have to go to Balitimore to see him or if he would see me in New Orleans as well?
-
Ladies - just a note of caution - I had an MRI yesterday (not related to BC) and one of the questions I was asked was if I had any tattoos. I asked why this would matter, and was told that primarily, they were worried about older tatts that may contain metallic oxides in the ink, tatts that were obtained outside the U.S. (no regulation on ink materials) and NEW tattoos, where skin burns were possible at the site.
I explained that I had plans in the future for Vinnie Tatts, and they said that was fine as long as they were healed. (I got a number but I forgot if it was weeks or months.)
So if an MRI is in your future, consider asking about tatts in case the date coincides with your visit to Vinnie.
-
lbrewer... Vinnie will see anyone in NOLA, but they give preferential booking to NOLA patients. So I believe that non-patients are booking into 2015 in NOLA. You would have an earlier date in Maryland... but NOLA is so fun!!!!
-
The NY Times video is exactly the Finksburg MD location and the process!!! Good to watch to calm any jitters or nerves you may have (I had them, but would have been calmed had I the opportunity to watch the video before hand).
Vinnie is such a pro at this that in my case he picked the size (perfect) drew it on my flaps and then showed me before he went through with the filling it in. He also picked the color according to my skin type and again - perfect. Just a few days over a month and I'm thrilled. Went to my oncologist appointment today and when I told him I had the 3D nipples done he asked if it was Vinnie Myers - he then had the NY Times video pulled up on his computer and showed me the site. He was thrilled to be able to see proof positive of Vinnies work and especially so close to having the NY Times piece come out!
Of course I then had to show a couple of other medical professionals in his office and they too were amazed! Worth the wait no matter where you go, MD or NOLA - and worth every penny.
Hugs
