Nipple changes 2 months after rads

I finished 19 rads 2 months ago with no problems.  My skin turned a bit pink but healed about a week later.  Today I noticed that the color of my nipple changed....looks like a bunch of large freckles on it.

Also I stated having more than usual shooting pains deep inside my lumpectomy breast.  I had them about a month after surgery....surgeon did an ultrasound and said that my stitches inside were a bit inflamed from radiation, but nothing to worry about.  The pain got much better and I only got the shooting pains maybe every few days until today when they have been happening throughout the day.

I'm wondering if anyone else had similar problems this long after rads?

it's strange that the signature block with all of treatment history, etc doesn't show on the initial post.

Hi Bonski68, color changes to the nipple are normal.  My cancer breast nipple occasionally "loses" color and becomes very white and opaque.  Other women have said the same.   I am not sure about the freckles you see, but they could just be more noticed if you are losing color in the aereola like me.  If you are in doubt, call your RO to ask.  As far as the shooting pains, I have had those and still occasionally do.  I call them "zingers" and my RO says that this is normal and can last many months after radiation completes.    Everything about breast cancer treatment is so very annoying....and if you are like me, I think of every new sensation or change as cancer related.  Getting back our sense of well being is difficult.  It's a good thing we have each other.

    Love, MsP
